Long love the King!

Get with the beats, the riffs, the harmony, or if you wanna go to hell, Phil Collins.

Long love the King!

Whilst browsing a music forum, I was reading through a backlog of old comments about different artists. One of which being Elvis Presley. The King Of Rock And Roll. What I found so hilarious that the most scathing remarks were written by a particular British member (same one who tried to sell me on The Birthday Party, btw). I find that funny because I thought if there was one American artist that the British embraced as a surrogate or honorary MBE, it'd be Elvis. It was the British that first popularized the JXL remix of "A Little Less Conversation" and I believe also the remix of "Rubberneckin'". On top of which, original and unadulterated Elvis songs had been re-charting in the UK after "Rubberneckin'" remix stopped basking in the limelight.

Now I won't speak to this forum, unless you removed my fandom on the grounds of it being an outlier, but am I correct in my thinking? I thought the British absolutely loved Elvis. Americans do as well, but not to the same degree.

Of course, I could probably be the only Elvis fan on this forum, but anyone else wearing his ring around their neck? Anyone else got stung?

Having lived here for eight years, I can't really say that I notice anyone who is a really big Elvis fan and the most likely reasons are either that the fandom died off already (probably due to pop culture shifts) or they all seem to keep it secret.

I've always been partial to Chuck Berry myself. Both are great of course, but I have to tip my hat to the true King of "Rock and Roll". ;)

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

So, if Chuck Berry is the King of Rock and Roll, does that make the Beach Boys the Kings of Rock and Roll?Haha.

No, considering they pretty much stole one of their songs from Chuck.

Well, listen to "Sweet Little Sixteen" by Chuck and then listen to "Surfin' USA" by the Beach Boys.

Yeah, there was a lawsuit to the effect of getting Chuck Berry composer credits on the song.

"Surfin' U.S.A." was musically inspired by Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen", and lyrically by "Twistin' U.S.A." by Danny And The Juniors or Chubby Checker. Danny And The Juniors had the bigger hit and managed to get their version released first, but I think Chubby did in fact record it first.
