Thanks Goat, wasn't sure what I could do with the weapons stat-wise. And I adore Magnetar, favourite bot of the reboot.

NoiseyGiraffe's Bots

Post by Noisy » Mon Aug 06, 2018 12:03 pm

First update on the new site and two new bots.

Vertigo Jr. is a featherweight version of Vertigo 3. It features all the same design features as its big sister such as brushless 4WD, asymmetrical blade and a lifting arm.

Speed: 5 / Weapon: 14(1 for arm) / Armour: 8 / Traction: 2 / Torque: 1

Titan is a the first robot I've designed with mecanum drive, meaning it can travel sideways will facing it's opponent. This is utilised in a spinner killer design with a pneumatic scoop and sloped armour.

Speed: 7 / Weapon: 3 / Armour: 11 (+1 Scoop) / Traction: 5 / Torque: 4

These are pretty things. Every time I start to think I'm good at CAD, your shit brings me back down to Earth.

Superpower - A 4WD brick made out of a billet of titanium. It has a hinged, 10mm hardox wedge that covers the front and sides of the robot and sits flush to the floor. It also has a electric, front mounted flipping bar on its top panel to flip robots over and to self right. It is powered by 2 brushless motors geared down to give it the power to flip. The drive is 4WD with two brushless motors powering each side, overvolted to provide huge power and torque with vents cut into the rear of the chassis to provide some cooling.

Man O' War - Tentomushi's distant venomous cousin, Man O' War is based on the Portuguese Man O' War sea creature. It is designed to trap and feed robots towards its huge undercutting saw. The trapping shell is 1.2m in diameter and has rubber tentacles underneath to grab and push robots towards the saw. The tentacles at longer at the front so when it pushes down on an opponent it makes it easier for it to move closer to the saw than escape. The shell can move 180° and is used to self right. The 850mm saw is attached to a 600mm two toothed flywheel. This strengthens the saw over the large diameter and also damages the robot higher up and deflects hits that avoid saw. The chassis is 4WD and is powered by two Ampflow motors.

Polycarbide - What is better than one Carbide inspired spinner? Three Carbide inspired spinners. Polycarbide is a 3 part clusterbot. Each 35kg bot is identical with a 630mm bar spinner, rear hardox wedge and 2WD. To save weight, the robots are made with an aluminium chassis, polycarbonate armour and brushless motors. A pair of brushless motors power the bar with a brushless motor powering each wheel. It is also invertable. The rear wedge is made of 3mm hardox and has a hinged plate at the bottom to get under opponents.
