BattleBots Season 2 Prediction Game

Post by Badnik96 » Mon May 09, 2016 9:32 pm

Alright gang, first episode's tomorrow. Usually it'd be 1 point per correct guess, but since the first episode is 3-way rumbles I will be awarding two points for correct bets.

Lycan v Mohawk v Invader

Blacksmith v Gemini v Basilisk

Son of Whyachi v Creepy Crawlies v Ultraviolent

Bad Kitty v Black Ice v Skorpios

My votes here are going to be for Lycan, Blacksmith, Son of Whyachi and Bad Kitty.

Also each of these robots have articles on the BattleBots Wiki in case you need extra info.

Please post your picks before the show airs in my time zone, 10 PM EST.

Where did you find what the matches are?

But I bet Invader, Blacksmith, Whyachi, and Skorpios. I'm a big fan of this season, and I'm holding a Fantasy Battlebots League for June.

TNS, you put far too much stock in the quality of spinners, and pretty much every robot about which you complained due to their lack of invertability has a srimech

Bolded my picks for each bout

Ahhhhh, why'd they have to put those three against one another! I like all of them! None of the robots have flippers or lifters, and Invader is made by the robotic death company, so you know it's good stuff

any team that makes claims as outlandish as Basilisk worries me, and IIRC, you only have to kill one half of Gemini to TKO the whole thing. going for The Blacksmith here

Ultraviolent is swagtastic, tough looking, and has a flipper. all the tools that you need to flip SOW. if SOW doesn't get flipped, expect him to win though - the carnage he makes by killing off the Creepy Crawlies will make a helluva impression on everyone

Black Ice seems like quite the wild card, and I'm not sure what to make of its secondary weapon. but a glorified Punjar can only go so far against these other two mean looking robots. always been a fan of VD6.0, so I'll go for Bad Kitty here
‽ ROBOTICS
CHAMPIONS: Lightweight//Ruination 4//Nick's Fuzzy Rules -- -- Hobbyweight//Bot-o-Rama//Buzzkill -- -- Arbitraryweight//D12//Listen Here, Grandad, This Is America, Everyone Here Eats Ass

Bots that I think are better than my actual champions: Chimera // Venice Queen // Cuddle Time!

TotallyNotSatan

May 9 2016, 09:38 PM

Where did you find what the matches are?[/quote]BB posted a list of robots on facebook, and there's some pictures floating around which show each match in action. Nothing spoilery, but enough to reveal the matchups.

Lycan v Mohawk v Invader
I don't see Lycan doing much, and generally crusher vs shell spinner goes to the spinner.

Blacksmith v Gemini v Basilisk
Blacksmith's front wedge should be good protection vs Gemini's discs, Gemini should be able to flank Basilisk, and Basilisk should be able to flip around and control Blacksmith. Could go to either three, but I'm going to bet on Blacksmith.

Son of Whyachi v Creepy Crawlies v Ultraviolent
I'm a fanboy. Deal with it.

Bad Kitty v Black Ice v Skorpios
Don't know what to make of Black Ice, and out of Skorpios and Bad Kitty, I think Kitty is more protected from Skorp's saw compared to vice versa.

Lycan - Mohawk - Invader
Unless it gets double teamed, Invader should win.

Blacksmith - Gemini - Basilisk/Afterbyte
From what's shown, Blacksmith looks set to go through. (I know that Afterbyte was mentioned as a name at BB, I just don't know if its a multibot or something.)

SOW - Creepy Crawlies - Ultraviolent
"Doomsday is not today" - Superman, Injustice

Bad Kitty - Black Ice - Skorpios
From the two (Black Ice looks like a wedge with some spikes and saws), Bad Kitty should win due to its design and due to the fact that its virtually impossible for Skorpios to Gloomy.

Edit: 2 out of 4. I was technically correct in that Invader was double teamed. 2 points.

Match 3 - SOW (Doomsday = self-destruct)
From a video I saw, it looks like a lot more of 3 way rumbles involving robots like Nightmare, Complete Control and Icewave.

I'm fairly sure the preview had some grudge matches/rumbles put in there. Also, a bunch of robots have minibots this season.

Well, that was an interesting show wasn't it? Lots of shock victories for sure. Literally everyone chose Blacksmith and Son of Whyachi, but none of us predicted Mohawk or Black Ice to advance from that crowd. The first actual episode is still a month away, so it'll be a while before I touch this thread again. That being said, here's the current standings:

Badnik: 4
TNS: 4
Gabe: 2
Zach: 4
The Mangle: 4

We are doing better than Call of Duty: Dislike Warfare. That is a start.

erm, actually, I picked Ultraviolent officially, with the acknowledgement that I would probably be incorrect :v:

so I should have two less points :P

That was the best I've ever seen SoW. Moved really fucking ffast, hit a bunch of people without breaking down. Damaged a bunch of crap. It looked like a heavyweight hazard.
