Recently, in attempts to balance the meta game and account for new technologies and design philosophies, a number of tournaments hosted on ARC have experimented with rule changes. This poll includes a list of modifications to the basic, standard ARC rule set. If you are in favour of including a modification, please vote for it. You can vote for as many as you like.

If you feel strongly against a specific rule change, please make your case in this thread.

if you had a much less lenient version of the rb2 rp rules i would probably enter. also can we not ban robots that have made the playoffs before because i'll eventually run out of robots to re-enter

Humblebrag ftw. Also yeah, I was considering just opening it up to all robots. That's what I'll probably do unless people are strongly against it.

I actually have the same problem with my Lightweights, since literally every one I've entered has made playoffs so far :V

Might be a good opportunity for that Chuckle Brothers-themed bot you were planning. :P

Half of my votes were self-interest.

I even voted for your dumb saw rule, just so you can enter Osiris and I can roflstomp it.

It looks like the MonkeyWrench multibot rules are gonna be used. I'm calling bullshit. Look at multibots irl. They have never done fuck (watch one of you pull out some obscure example that you think invalidates my entire argument). Maybe they sound cool in theory and they're a change from the usual, so it's tempting to make them, but in practice, they suck balls. Like actually.

I'm not saying we have to follow real life slavishly, so don't get your panties all up in a knot, but if weapons or types aren't viable irl, like flamethrowers and crushers, we're usually pretty good with making ARC reflect that.

They might be weak irl, but they're even weaker without the new rules imo. It's not like it's hurting anyone :P

I agree with you in some ways, and I don't in others

Okay, so does anyone else see my point? To reiterate, it's basically that the MonkeyWrench rules make clusters viable, as in pretty much a guaranteed playoff spot if you do them right. That doesn't reflect real life robotic combat at all, where they consistently fail to make any noise whatsoever. The way that they were before was more realistic. As for who's being hurt by this, I'd say that everybody who enters what would normally be a reasonable, winning design.
