Round 1: Stampede vs. Cow Tipper

Post by Area51Escapee » Sat Feb 13, 2010 3:37 am

The next HW lined up is Team Search and Destroy's underdog ram/treadbot, Stampede. Notorious for taking down Tank in a highly controversial match, Stampede proved he had what it took to compete with the best. Unfortunately for him, he got taken down in the playoffs and has not returned since. Will this low brow machine from John Cress repeat his stunning success?

This next HW, from Team Animal Cruelty, lives on more in myth than in experience. Cow Tipper, the champion lifter, is considered the only bot yet to be defeated in some way, shape or form. Even the greats like Suicide, Reflector Shield, Underall, JSG have lost once or twice in their time. Cow Tipper, however, is the only one left to yet be matched in the arena, winning CFRC1, then a rumble and then winning a gold medal at the CFL Olympics. Will his legacy remain?

Cow Tipper's speed is more relevant here, and that lifter is going to be more effective.

Moo, bitches.

This one has me nervous though... not so much because I think the Cow would actually lose this one, but by now, I worry that people want to see Cow Tipper lose in some regard badly enough that they'll at some point vote to make that happen. Almost like how Howard Stern managed to keep Sanjaya in the competition week after week just to piss off Simon.

Maybe not though. I think we're all smarter than AI voters. If CT does finally go down, I'm sure it'll be against a worthy opponent.

The lifter is faster and has longer reach. Cow Tipper can get to the sides and slam Stampede around all day
This account is in a state of dimensional flux

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Hey, it even made the 100 Greatest Bots thread. I think by now though, it'd be off the list. Warper took 2nd in Defiance, btw.

And Sparkey, I've got some less than impressive designs in my history. Twist And Shout, The Aristocrats, Jaugernaut. MW division had generally been my Achilles Heel. Sand Crab hasn't been a terribly successful design, but it's one I'm really proud of. I think it's a pretty cool design that would do better IRL than in CFL. That, and it was the launching off point for the design of Bad-Ass Barnacle.

Actually, I think Twist And Shout was pretty awesome too, but multi-bots have always been an uphill battle for the most part.

Mostly because the rules either favored them too much or not enough.

Yeah, we're still having trouble striking that balance that'd make it equitable. One of the main reasons Yeow! Hot Bees did so well was because there was no active weapon on any of them. It's just like any rammer's advantage. I think, also, that that was the ONLY multi-bot to not have any active weapons. Other than the UHW showbot that was four thwackbots... back in CFRC.

Wasn't Primary 3 a group of wedges too?

I thought those were three mini-spinners.... I remember V1per knocked them around, but I may be thinking of a different mutli-bot.
