Monthly Special Event: Tha Mean Streets

Post by The Monsterworks » Wed Dec 07, 2016 1:01 pm

<big><big>December Event: Tha Mean Streets</big></big>

Brick vs. spinner, spinner vs. brick. Since time immemorial (like, 2006), they've been locked in a struggle for control of tha mean streets of ARC. Sure, the axes have had their turn. The flippers have carved out their turf. The clampers tried their hand, and the crushers got wrecked, but this is a blood feud that runs deeper, to the heart of robot combat. This is beyond Alliance vs. Horde. This is the main event, folks.

The rules are simple. This isn't a tournament. It's not formal. Fuck that. The spinners want <del>blood</del> battery acid. The bricks ain't gonna take their shit. Someone's gonna get banged in. Anyone can ante up either a spinner or a brick. Not both. Pick a team and stick with it.

Don't be a bitch and enter something that's not a real spinner or not a real brick. You'll be laughed at and rejected. Rules are CBC rules to keep it simple except for that goddamned 36 point walker limit. That's stupid, so it's 34 here. Bots can come from any weight class, but will count as SHW here. Only designs that already exist. Nothing purpose-built, though you can restat existing designs. No punkass KE transfer deals. No dedicated clampers. No saws. No goddamned snakes, and no Swiss Army bot bullshit. Enter clusters if you want, but you'll get laughed at.

This'll be a single five minute fight. The battleground will be Buzludzha. No house robots. Stalin's Sickle toned down to 8 power and Lenin's Hammer down to 7. Judges will decide using the usual scoring system but taking all bots on each team into account. First come, first serve, up to <del>five</del> <del>six</del> <del>seven</del> <del>eight</del> seven on each side. The scrap starts on December 7. RPs are due on December 17.

Good luck.

PUT SPINNER HERE

Image

SPINNER HAS BEEN PUT HERE

Circular doorstop (it's a super-heavyweight if that matters)

...it's a ring with kiwi drive. do I really have to explain anything? :v: Oh actually I do guess I should point out that the marks on top help point me in the right direction, and are mirrored on the bottom. not a melty-spinner, because fuck those

Time to unleash holy hellfire: <big>Brimstone</big>
(Theme Music)

Image

So, what, precisely, is this infernal contraption? It's my new middleweight: Brimstone. It's an industrial steampunk-themed melty-brain and single-toothed horizontal spinner combo ironically powered by a lightweight axial diesel engine and armed with an optional flamethrower mounted in the weapon head. The engine has an excellent power-to-weight ratio and can run on a variety of different fuels. Fittingly, Brimstone belches black smoke, is louder than a demonic army on the march, and surrounds itself with a whirling ring of fire. The combination of the smokestack, the high torque of the diesel engine, and the single-toothed design allow it to self-right with ease.

The copper-coloured pipes that adorn its sides are purely ornamental, extremely light, and can be removed for matches. The vents on the sides actually let out excess heat and tire smoke. When spinning up, Brimstone becomes a whirling dervish of white smoke and fire. However, the spectacle does not last long. Its melty-brain system is designed to augment its spinning blade, and so only reaches a factor of eight rotational speed. Once this optimal state has been achieved, viewers and opponents alike will wonder and cower as the axial diesel engine rumbles to life and gouts of thick black smoke pour from the smokestack, signalling the activation of Brimstone's primary weapon: the single-toothed cogwheel blade. There are two versions of this weapon: the ornamental one pictured above, and a simplified version that includes none of the extra gears and cogs. With eleven weapon armour, both blades are incredibly tough, making their destruction at the hands of other spinners highly unlikely. So, with all of the description out of the way, let's get down to the nitty-gritty: what, exactly, are Brimstone's stats?

Stats

Configuration One: 8 speed &#124; 8 weapon &#124; 7 armour (11 weapon armour)&#124; 6 traction &#124; 1 torque
Configuration Two: 8 speed &#124; 8 weapon (+ 1 flamethrower) &#124; 7 armour (11 weapon armour) &#124; 1 traction &#124; 1 torque

Mega Plowdozer
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/PtLzBq1.png" alt="Posted Image" width='400' height='240' />
Normally I'd make something that better reflects my current build philosophy, but the no purpose-built thing is stopping me from doing that. Mega Plowdozer returns, mostly unchanged from FRR. Front plow lifts and presses, rear hinged wedge is hinged. Let's plow some fools :cool:

I know. I switched out AGAIN. I never can make up my mind, but after some thinking, turns out the brick I hoped for was right here all along. Besides, do you really think I would just enter something as absurd as DoD :v: ?
Anyway, 2WD lifter and clamp. The wheels are semi enclosed for spinner protection, and the lifting arm can reach back far enough to self right in no time. And if there's any annoying wedges that need to be taken out, the spacious wedge underneath will have no trouble with getting under. Yes, it's a clamp. Fite me :P . But it's also a true brick.

Braveheart the Third

Image

Bringing some championship caliber to the Solid Side. Two-wheeled invertible wedgeriffic box with a hinged thwacking tail for good measure. Front wedge and the triangular corner wedges are all one piece for additional sturdiness. Hinged skirts on the sides, hinged wedges on the front, with springs to keep them from folding over on themselves. The wedges and catching teeth can also be removed and replaced with a solid wedge for fighting spinners. Which will be happening here. :v

Going brick for this one.

And it will be Valravn-it's been restless since the PD event is on indefinite hiatus. That'll teach those spinners&#33; :)

Well, Valravn is out of PD and pretty pissed off, so I'm tweaking the stats a bit since it's going up against spinners for this event:

Speed: 6 / Weapon: 4 / Torque: 3 / Traction: 4 / Armor: 13

That should stand up to those 14-15 WPN powered spinners-EAT BRICK&#33;

Hellhound IV

Image

Hellhound's back, stripped of all of the useless extras. He's leaner, meaner, and ready to guard the gates of Tartarus from all manner of spinner scum and anything else, really. His weapon is a 360 degree lifter and his brutally effective drive train.

Stats: 8 speed / 7 traction / 3 torque / 11 amour (+2 plow) / 1 weapon

It's Terminal Velocity&#33;
Image
Well, not really. It's version 2, with none of that booster motor clusterfuck. It never fought before, but it's not new - I finished it just before Pressure Drop finals, and some pics proving that are still in Discord's history.

Hinged wedge on front, dome shield on back, hinged skirts on sides - enough wedges to stay 2wedgy4u. Enough all around armor to have no real weak points. It wasn't purpose-built for this fight, but it was purpose-built to kill spinners.
