League of Robotic Excellence: Season 1

The full set of rules can be found on the main site under the Tournaments section. For the record, though, flying and hovercraft robots are banned.

Sign-up Info

- Everyone enters a total of four bots, one from each weight class (Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Superheavyweight) and assigns them stats using 30 points per bot. Points will be divvied up by 6 categories:

-Speed
-Traction
-Torque
-Wedge Effectiveness
-Armor
-Weapon Power

Note: Armor and Wedge Effectiveness may not exceed 16 points combined.

- The battles will take place in a Round Robin style (as opposed to the traditional tournament style) where the competitors will be divided into two divisions per weight class. Everyone fights nine of the robots in its weight class, then the top three in both divisions go into the single-elimination playoffs. The division champs move on to the semis, and the bottom four battle it out to decide the other two semi-finalists.

- No double entering the competition (which means no smurf accounts or anything like that).

Team Zlayerz

Lightweight
Kite

Image
Image

First LW flipper! Kite here is a 27kg (LW) flipper similar to The Matador. Driven by 24v drill motors and 2 wheels near the front (not as much as The Matador, though. S5-Matador could hardly turn about), Kite is as manoeuvrable as it gets. The powerful flipping arm can flip around a tonne on the tip. The 6063 aluminium alloy exoskeleton and 2mm Grade 5 titanium armour provide some protection against heavy-duty weaponry.

Middleweight
Luna

Image

Back for another try, Luna is an invertible ring spinner with three large and slightly-angled blades in different places: one near the bottom, undercutter-style, one in the middle of the ring and at a 120 degree angle to aforementioned blade, and a final blade near the top of the ring, at a 240 degree angle to the first blade. These blades succeed a large wedge blade that travels up Luna's ring like a corkscrew, which may be enough to catch a robot's side and fling them into air, but most likely they'll eat the blades first. Having placed the render on its back, I can assure people that she works the exact same inverted.

Shadow Zone Forever

Image

Image

Yep. The former HW champ is back...

4WD invertible beast. Front scoop for absorbing blows from horizontal spinning weapons, and a rear flipper. Sloped sides so he can't get stacked, and the flipper CAN right him, since it extends back all that way. Prepare to enter the Shadow Zone... ;)

Speed: 6
Torque: 1
Traction: 5
Armour: 7 (+2 scoop)
Weapon: 4
Wedge Effectiveness: 7

Superheavyweight
Teresa (the Serbian Nun)

Image
Image
Image

Here's the SHW I have been clamouring about for a while. Teresa is an invertible 2WD angled octal shape, similar to Turtle Road Kill, but even lower and with more leverage. All body armour panels minus the top and bottom are angled really low at 25 degrees, effectively making them great wedges. This, combined with the octal shape, makes it extremely difficult for a horizontal spinner to really do much damage. On top of that, there is a scoop set-up explicitly for horizontal spinners, as well as axes that she can block using the scoop. Since Teresa is 2WD she gets the 7 wedge in the stats all around, so I don't have to worry if I have the lifter raised. The fangs on top (ala Copperhead) are removable in case I need them to be.

The most noticeable feature, however, is the hidden spike within the lifter, run off high-pressure pneumatics. Simply put, I lift the opponent up and then fire the spike - OUCH! - right into their underbelly. Due to the stat system allowing pneumatic spikes to pierce enemy regardless of the armour value, and the stat I gave the weapon power, I can pierce any armour by about 2 inches. Combine that with the fact that most robots have all their mechanics on the baseplate, and I could REALLY do some serious damage! On top of that, if I meet an equal or greater wedge, I can punch said wedge and render their wedging ability less!

The lifter goes 180 degrees without the scoop, and 95 degrees with it. She can right herself, by the way, if it ever comes to that. She can raise the lifter and then fire the spike to push herself right side up again.

Speed: 5
Torque: 1
Traction: 3
Armour: 8
Weapon: 6
Wedge Effectiveness: 7

Team Ectogasm reporting for duty

LW

The Servant's Assistant 3

Image

After TSA 2 flopped out, TSA 3 has stepped up to take it's place. Featuring a more radical design than it's predecessor's, TSA 3 is the first of the series to feature dual weaponry and the first to be tracked as well. With it's pneumatic flipper (The sliver bit at the bottom AND all the parts in burgundy) And lethal pneumatic axe, it hopes to cleave it's enemies in two and send the parts flying. It features skirts on the side to prevent pesky wedges getting underneath (Yellow parts, but not the corners) This bot can run upside down with it's tracks and can self right with either the axe or the flipper. It has two set ups, set up one will be used more likely against spinners and other bots with it's full wedge to clamp onto other bots and stuff. The second set up is a split wedge for fighting rammers or other bots, varies depending on the type of opponent it faces. With these radically new improvements, TSA 3 hopes to go all the way this time.

Speed: 6
Traction: 4
Torque: 1
Armour: 7 (+1 to front wedge)
Weapon: 4 (-2 for independent weaponry)

MW

Terminus

Image

So here is Terminus, formerly a part of Team Zlayerz, the bot has been passed on to Team Ectogasm. It features a really good static heavy duty scoop/plow thing, good for getting under bots and shunting them around. But the main event is the huge axe with it's dual spikes on top, perfect for damaging and pinning bots down for hammer trips. Beware, this is one Terminus you don't wanna get off at!

Speed: 6
Traction: 4
Armour: 7 (+2 to front scoop)

HW

Flame Byxis 230WD

Here is Flame Byxis, he is a tracked robot and pretty much a SteveOUT rip-off design, and undercutter that features a huge disc with four lethal teeth attached to it (Only 2 are shown in the pic) Is invertible and works as an overcutter when inverted.

Speed: 6

Weapon: 14

SHW

F-Dynasty

Image

Here's my SHW, F-Dynasty. Named after a team from Beyblade G-Revolution, this bot features the two main colours of the team in it's colour scheme (Red and Blue) This bot has many inspirations going into it, namely Reflector Shield, his younger brother Force Field and Eurypterus Evolved. It feature's a monstrous 8WD to out push and shove back against the opposition. Designed to be an apt spinner killer, it features a Force Field like plow at the front to get under spinners and fellow rammers and put them in their places. For defense against spinners, the wheels have supports, but the brown parts are extra bits designed to make the support frame almost impossible to bend and jam the wheels. To combat rammers, it also employs skirts, as an extra repellant of the dreaded Zombie Killer syndrome. Beware of F-Dynasty

Note: The bot IS invertible, it's just my crappy paint skills that make it appear that it's not. My apologies. Also, the plow is also hinged.

Armour:8 (+2 to the plow)

Still 4WD with the Diesector-style jaws which can grab, lift, grab and lift, form a wedge or form a battering ram. This time the robot is slightly wider and has internal wheels. It is also invertible.

The Colour of Awesome

LW: Jesus Built My Hotrod

Image

Spd: 10
Tra: 8
Tor: 3
Wdg: 0
Wep: 0
Arm: 9

Speedy little lightweight rammer, featuring some nice sharp spikes on the front, and a sturdy plow on the back. Totally invertible, the suspension isn't actually real. Doesn't affect the drivetrain, it just looks pretty cool, and adds to the theme of the machine. Can easily both shove its opponents around and put a few nice holes in them, as well as ding a ding dang your dang a long ling long.

MW: SWARM

Image

Spd: 5
Tra: 4
Tor: 2
Wdg: 0
Wep: 2
Arm: 5

A set of identical triplets, spare for the colour-coded frontal support arms. The Queen has yellow arms, the Worker has red ones, and black signifies the Drone. Each has a nice big drum up front, a spiky thwack/ram tail at the back, and full invertibleness. Also a generous amount of ground clearance to prevent them getting beached anywhere. More of a pest than a brutal full-on killer, but still just as tricky to fight, especially when you have to deal with all three at once.

HW: Cryoseism

Image

Spd: 6
Tra: 4
Tor: 1
Wdg: 0
Wep: 14
Arm: 5

New shell spinner design for the HW division, coming off a Grand Final appearance in the Crash & Burn 5 tournament. 4WD for good stability and control, smaller teeth so as not to cause such a severe jolt upon impact. Should tear stuff up pretty nicely as well, though, with staggered teeth, some set low down to help fight wedges, and six free-rolling guide wheels keeping the shell in place. Little static flag on the back to allow it to self-right should it be overturned, but not with a sudden impact, or any unnecessary scooting itself about on the shell.

SHW: Murder Death Unit

Image

Spd: 5
Tra: 3
Tor: 1
Wdg: 1
Wep: 16
Arm: 10

Inspired by Spatch's Modest Discomfort Usherer, and even more ridiculous. Features an equally powerful spinner, but tougher armour, with a decent amount of Speed as well. Plus the weight bonus means that it won't be pushed around quite so easily,or toppled, especially with being so damn wide and with its absurdly low chassis and weaponry. The two long spikes on the back are detachable, they're there to help keep balance should it be necessary, and also to keep the weaponry from striking the wall should it be forced back against it. Also Wedge stat so it's not completely helpless without its weapon.

Team Blood Gulch

LW: Zombie Killer
The hinged wedge feind returns with a larger wedge and a wider body. Still features the anti-spinner plow on the back.

Armor: 7
Traction: 7
Torque: 2
Wedge: 7

MW: Harbinger
An invertable duel thwackbot and clampbot. The top jaw can clamp down on bots whenever he needs to ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL, while the bottom two are hinged wedges. He can also sit and thwack whenever DIRECT INTERVENTION IS NECESSARY. The thwacking tail is also on a hinge so that the sloped end can rest against the ground and it can act as a wedge of sorts when the bot is not spinning. The yellow circles on the front are actually lights that activate at the start of the fight and shut off after the match is over.

Armor: 7
Traction: 7

HW: Truth or Consequences
The veteren power flipper returns. He has wedging in the front to help get under bots before flipping them away, and a ram plate on the back for spinner defense.

Speed: 5
Weapon: 5
Armor: 9
Traction: 4
Torque: 2
Wedge: 5

SHW: Tali'Zorah
A ram bot that features a large solid-metal roller (like a rolling pin), and features an interchangable setup with a wedge. As noted by the picture, the wedge set-up features the wedge locked into position at a downward angle, while the arms can still rotate 360 degrees around the bot. There is a row of 5 spikes inside each of the plows, and the bot is invertible.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

"Literally cold-blooded killers."

LW- Conqueror
Image
The younger brother of the FRR Dead Zone Bronze Medallist Dreadnought and a powerful contender in its own right, Conqueror comes back for another try after its ongoing successful run in CBBR.
Still as tough and agile as ever, but this time, its Suspension has been disabled to prevent any controversy. As a trade-off though, the plumbing to its Flipper has again been refined, allowing it to consistently fire on full power. Basically, Conks is still as dangerous as ever, but there's nothing for Kody to complain about this time. :v:

Speed- 6
Traction- 6
Torque- 1
Weapon- 3 (Front-hinged Low Pressure Flipper, powered by CO2 gas)
Wedge- 7
Armour- 7

Note- Can quickly self-right. Like its older counterpart, Conqueror is also named after a Royal Navy vessel- in this case, the nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror, known for its role in sinking the ARA General Belgrano in the Falklands War.

MW- Decapitator
Image
Something a little out of the ordinary for Ice Cubed Robotics, but this speed machine is definitely set to do some damage. Built predominantly for speed and attacking ability, it's built out of thick polycarbonate to provide a good protection-to-weight ratio, to accommodate a very fast and powerful 4WD Skid-Steer system, along with a specially-designed armoured Lifting Scoop on the front, for stopping spinners and any would-be monster truckers in their tracks.

And then of course, there's its main weapon- a terrifyingly powerful Pneumatic Axe, chain-driven and with Interchangeable Heads for different opponents. With minimal recoil, a chopping rate of 1-2 blows per second, and enough power to smash right through all but the hardiest armour plating, it's a very dangerous weapon. Overall, well-adapted for reducing anything that looks at it a bit funny to a messy pulp.

Speed- 7 (With high acceleration, due to Traction)
Traction- 7
Torque- 2
Weapon- 9 (Chain-driven Pneumatic Axe with interchangeable heads, and a heavily-armoured Front Lifting Scoop) (-2 for multiple weapons, +4 for Power Axe bonus, so 11)
Armour- 4 for main body, 10 for the entire Front Wedge (including the Corners) due to the Weapon-Armour Rule.
Wedge- 1 (Just so that it's here)

Notes- Can quickly self-right from any inverted position using the Axe. The Axe is chain-driven (ala Killerhurtz) to minimise recoil, and the heads are treated with Silicon Carbide (one of the hardest-known abrasives in the World) to give them penetration capabilities similar to that of Diamond.
Axe can be fired and then held down to pin opponents, particularly with the Pickaxe Head.

HW- Bulletproof Bomb
Image
The ARC vs GTM Runner-up and FRR Dead Zone veteran returns for another try, completely rebuilt internally since its last run to make it much better for handling spinners, and maybe some other things, too.
Its drivetrain has been refined for better speed, traction and control, has a much more effective lifting arm, and greatly improved protection all-round, whilst still maintaining its great pushing power and armoured front from before. Wedge is still a bit lacking, but eh. For most opponents, it should be enough, and good luck trying to catch it, anyway. :v:

Speed- 7
Traction- 7
Torque- 3
Weapon- 2 (Four-bar Electric Lifting Arm and removable Steel Ramming Blades)
Armour- 8 (+1 for entire Front Wedge)
Wedge- 3

Notes- Is both invertible, and can self-right using its Lifting Arm, Biohazard-style. Is named after the Anthill Mob's car, from Wacky Races.

Hinged wedge at the front, hinged horizontal thwack at the back. Centrifugal forces will straighten that rear tail when at full speed for great visual effects.

My hinged wedge has got nifty sloped sides (of which the functionality will be lost when inverted, granted (the functionality of the sloped sides that is, not of the wedge itself, the wedge works fine when inverted)). The concept is that I can wedge my opponent, turn into one direction, watch with glee as my thwack hits my opponent, then turn into the other direction, and have my opponent wedged again by that nifty sloped side!

HELL YEAH!

Wedge Effectiveness - 0

Shall these four suffice?

The front lifting forks are attached to the drivetrain through a differential. Sort of like how Overkill's blade goes up when the robot reverse, the forks are geared to do the opposite: press into the floor as the robot goes forward and pull up as the robot reverses. But now, they've been upgraded further to have a clutch that allows me to hold the forks in one position (either up or down) while moving. In addition, the rear wedge has been improved to make it more effective against spinners (and in general). Now that we've established that the drive power contributes to the weapon power, I've toned back the weapon stat to just cover the actuator for the clutch.

-The power of the forks is determined by the average of the wheels and traction stats, just as a translational spinner's power would be.
-The wedge stat controls the leveraging ability of the forks--no relation to the speed rule. This seems more appropriate. Let me know now/i] if this needs to be changed.

The bar - now with an almost ludicrous range, scrapes the floor with only a couple millimeters of clearance. A pair of forks on top allow robots to ride up into the weapon if it's inverted.
