Crazy Bots: Blazing Ruin - Sign-ups

Post by prince palatine » Sat Apr 23, 2011 3:06 pm

Yep its our 1st official tournament on this forum

For our 1st tournament its going to be a league format, 10 people enter 4 robots (LW, MW, HW and SHW) into different leagues

The format goes in a league style, much like football (Or soccer depending what country your reading this from) every one plays each other twice, then 4 from each weight class move on to the semi-finals

All the rules are qouted here

Quote:

1. Create your own bots in some sort of CAD program. In can be anything from Rhinoceros 3D Modeling to mspaint. Basically, you just need a picture of what your bot looks like. If you don't know how to draw or do CAD, you can always ask someone to do it for you on the CAD Request thread in our forums.

2. Enter stats for your bots (see below for stat system).

3. Role play with your bot on a weekly basis. All this means is you have to see who your opponent is for that week, and write up a strategy against them in the Role Playing Board section of the forum. Don't worry, your role play doesn't have to be very detailed. Short and simple works, too. However, detail doesn't hurt, so if you want to really go all out in your strategy, you go for it.

SIGN-UP INFORMATION

Everyone enters 4 bots, one from each weight class (LW, MW, HW, SHW) and assigns them stats using the old point system.

- The battles will take place in a Round Robin style (as opposed to the traditional tournament style) in which each bot will face every other bot once with playoffs afterward to determine the champion of each weight class.

- No double entering the competition (that means no smurf accounts or anything like that).

Oh you get the point, its the same rules as all classic ARC tournies (Im not good at describing things) Im also gonna do an FRA thing which is i will not enter bots into a tournie i made

So lets get crack-a-lacking folks[/quote]

A nice invertible ring spinner...that's sort of it. Will add stuff when I can think of it. The yellow and black outside ring part is the bit that spins. Red part doesn't move. Staggered teeth, one low, one high, one in the middle, to spread out damage and guarantee that wedges will be caught.

A CAD-to-RA2-to-CAD design. Weird. 6WD pushing brick, wedge works either way up. Pair of spikes on the back for damage, LED lights on the side for some fun. The other ones on the side are blue to signify that it's upside-down, but you can't see them from that angle. Concave rear end for dealing with HS to some degree.

From the outer reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy comes Ganymede, an three-wheeled Omni Drive alien with a devilish spinning blade. The conical assembly can lean to one side through linear actuators for self-righting. Bouncy antennae and an LED ring so fun can be had while machines are destroyed.

BlackRose

BlackRose returns to regain her LW crown. 4WD invertible ramming broad. Features a nice new lifter at the rear to lift her opponents, which works just fine inverted. She has two - not one but TWO - sets of wedges at the front. The bottom, since it isn't sprung-down anymore, is hinged and works inverted now. ;) The double-hinged skirts have been lengthened to provide better coverage. She also has a set-up for dealing with spinners. Don't mess with this bitch.

Returning for another bout, Jinx II is a 2WD low scoop wedge with lifter and axe combo. Sides are angled to prevent strandings. Rear has 4 hinged wedges to get underneath other robots with ease. The lifter has extensions as pictured, but can be taken off if needed. The axe is run off a rack-and-pinion mechanism and sports an axe-head akin to Killerhurtz, to maximize damage. Can even pin an opponent with the axe and move them to a hazard ala Complete Control.

Spectrum of Eternity

Image

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTYSE2dvcrwn

Spectrum of Eternity is a non-invertible ring spinner with two different rings. One ring has quite a few little teeth designed to grind and rip away at armour, while still keeping spinning. This way Spectrum of Eternity can remain mobile and not suffer such recoil as he would with...

The other ring, which sports two giant hooked teeth. You can see these in the video. These are two undercutting teeth with huge range. These are meant for other spinners and robots with overhead weaponry, such as overhead thwacks, axes, crushers, or even discs on an arm.

Did I mention he's not invertible, AND has no srimech? Yep. Flip him once and he's dead. But you have to catch him first. ;) You also have to get by the 10-armoured ring to strike the tender main body armour of 4.

Tax Cutter is here for another go. Very wide and very low 2WD horizontal spinner with a triangular flywheel like last time. This time however he is an undercutter, and can function as an overcutter if inverted. The 2WD is positioned so that he has maximum turning ability and control with his massive flywheel. Team Blood Gulch

LW: Dr. Robotnik
The Team Blood Gulch LW undercutter returns with an interchangable set-up! It can use either the bar with the hammer-head ends or a fearsome disc! It also features some spiked wedges at the back for minor wedge defense (and to keep it from being helpless without a weapon). As always, it is able to work as an overcutter when inverted.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Team Yellow Alert

LW: Annoying Box Rush
Image
Image
The front lifting forks are attached to the drivetrain through a differential. Sort of like how Overkill's blade goes up when the robot reverse, the forks are geared to do the opposite: press into the floor as the robot goes forward and pull up as the robot reverses. But now, they've been upgraded further to have a clutch that allows me to hold the forks in one position (either up or down) while moving. In addition, the rear wedge has been improved to make it more effective against spinners (and in general).

MW: Stingray
Image
Image
Uses a hydraulic rambar with a hinged wedge on the rear end. Similar to Probot and Force Feedback, it "pushes" robots and pokes dangerous spinners with the well-protected bar, slowing their weapons so it can get inside. Strongly Invertible. The lifting forks are dumb this time. They're just unpowered forks, as ABR's system was useless with Stingray's lower wheelpower. Last time this robot failed because it couldn't get under anything. Rather difficult deciding what to do with it as the necessity of a wedge stat pretty much sucks the fun out of the design. Touch choices had to be made.

Also worth nothing: the rambar is not right down the center of the robot. It's offset to one side a bit due to spacial constraints.

A robot from the days of vapor yore. Nothing fancy, just straightforward principles that always work well. A fully invertible high-powered spinner, this time tuned for more control than before.

SHW: Modest Discomfort Usherer
Image
Image
An overpowered walker with a spinning blade powered by one of these that reaches almost a meter in front of it, 6 cm clearance, and a decent (real) walking system that's been used before. Anything that touches this blade will almost certainly die. Obviously not invertible, and without the weapon it's pretty useless, so there are flaws to exploit. Good luck though. The tip of the blade is just about flush with the rearmost part of the robot's chassis. This is partly deliberate - to balance the bot and help absorb shock from its hits, but also to allow the blade to spin up if its rear gets pushed into the wall.

The original name 'MDU' was just tacked on when I needed an extra bot at the last minute. Since CBBR appears to be happening for reals and very serious at this point, I put a lot of work into making this less of a troll bot, and more of a serious design. I was tempted to call this one Influenza. It really is the next Influenza, basically, but I am scared to tarnish the name because I'm unsure how to distribute the stat points, or how well it will do, etc.

Team Ectogasm

LW: The Servant's Assistant 2

Image

It's time we said goodbye to old TSA and bring in the new. TSA 2 has been completely redesigned to have a new shape and take on other enemies. He is only a fraction longer than he was last time around, still relatively compact. The colour scheme is paying ode to the last two incarnations (Red/Burgundy for The Servant and Yellow and Black for TSA 1) The black part is the top of the actual robot chassis, NOT a part of the sides. The only thing TSA 2 retains from TSA 1 is the 4WD configuration, but that's just about it. The whole flipper, is both parts that are burgundy and the silver part at the bottom of the wedge, painted a simple colour to avoid confusion like the last two incarnations. It features two horns at the top which service to stop rammers from flying over the top of the bot and behind. The horns ARE removable. Despite a power of 2, the weapon CAN self right it, the horns also help in the self righting process.

What more can I say, The Servant's Assistant 2!

Armour: 8 (+1 to front wedge)

MW: Merry Hampton BR (British Railways)

Image

The invertible Punjar style just looked plain awful, so Merry Hampton has gone BR version for this time. Taking a page out of the Copperhead playbook with the hinged Copperhead shaped V plow at the front, it aims to kill spinners and dish out some damage to the rammers. Designed to take on all comers. With 4 wheel drive. It feature's three set ups. The normal set up (Top left) The skirt setup (Right) and the Fangs set up to stop rammers escaping (Bottom Left). The skirt AND Fangs set up can be used together.

Speed: 7
Traction: 6
Armour: 9 (+2 to plow)
Wedge: 7
Weapon: 0
Torque: 1

HW: Klarinette

Image

Here is Klarinette, Kody will tell exactly where she comes from and who she is :P . She is a tracked robot and features two deadly spinning rings, with the teeth spaced out for maximum impact. But wait there's more, the top ring spins clockwise. And the bottom ring spins counter clockwise. The bottom ring comes in handy as a back up incase the top ring gives out. Fully invertible, and should smash into bots. While the armour is 5, the spinning rings have higher armour due to the weapon armour bonus.

Speed: 6
Traction: 4
Armour: 5 (11 on each ring)
Wedge: 0
Weapon: 14 (-2 for independent weapons, giving them both a damage capability of 12)
Torque: 1

SHW: F-Dynasty (F-Sangre)

Image

Here's my new SHW, F-Dynasty/F-Sangre! Named after a team from Beyblade G-Revolution, this bot features the two main colours of the team in it's colour scheme (Red and Blue) This bot has many inspirations going into it, namely Reflector Shield, his younger brother Force Field and Eurypterus Evolved. It feature's a monstrous 8WD to out push and shove back against the opposition. Designed to be an apt spinner killer, it features a Force Field like plow at the front to get under spinners and fellow rammers and put them in their places. For defense against spinners, the wheels have supports, but the brown parts are extra bits designed to make the support frame almost impossible to bend and jam the wheels. To combat rammers, it also employs skirts, as an extra repellant of the dreaded Zombie Killer syndrome. Beware of F-Dynasty/F-Sangre.

Note: The bot IS invertible, it's just my crappy paint skills that make it appear that it's not. My apologies. Also, the plow is also hinged.

Torque: 2
Armour:9 (+2 to the plow)

The new breed of WhipCoil is here. 4WD and armed with a nasty set of jaws which can be used as either a clamp or a lifter.
