2006 INDUCTEES

Diacronic
While he has yet to join us here at the Drowning City forum, there isn't a one of us here who doesn't know, love, and respect Diacronic. One of the founding fathers of this community, Diacronic has been active in every aspect. A moderator at XSOrbit, an administrator at ARC, ARC staff member and results writer, archivist, multiple championships, several runners-up, all topped off with a technical savvy that has bonded the community together, and cemented roots. Having attended both ARC Conventions, there is no doubt how much we'd be missing if not for the presence of Diacronic.

doom_force
One of the quieter members, doom_force established his importance to the group early on. As an early poster on the Comedy Central boards, doom_force first and best displayed the need for a real home to call our own, as he spent a week impersonating the Administrator of the Comedy Central forums. His quirky sense of humor would later lend itself to his bizarre legacy involving chicken sandwiches. Aside from that, doom_force is a technically proficient roboteer, building in real-life, including the "egg-beater" design that other builders have borrowed. He also competed well in the FRC and Fantasy Fury tournaments, the latter of where he gained his greatest fame with BASS taking runner-up in the superheavyweight class. Though he hasn't competed since the days of Fantasy Fury, we can always speculate and hope that one day, doom_force will once again grace us with his roleplaying skills.

Ernie
Though first known as MinionRulz, in our hearts and memories, he'll always be Ernie. Ernie always chooses his bots and his strategies carefully, the pinnacle of which is the lauded Suicide. An afficianado of penguin avatars, Ernie's presence has dwindled since the days of Defiance. Nonetheless, he always has a good-natured comment and a positive outlook on the sport, which will always be needed and appreciated.

erscaptain
One of the beastiest members of the community, erscaptain is as much known for aggression as innovation. Under similar names of "ers" and "ersrules," his passion for the sport of robotic combat fueled his rise to prominence among the community during the days at the Comedy Central board, driving away spammers and intimidating newcomers, and would eventually manifest itself in a post-season award named after him, the Bozenda Award. The creator of the Fantasy BattleBots tournament, erscaptain is largely responsible for the continuance of both the fantasy leagues, though he seldom particpates, and the sense of community that bonds Drowning City together. Though his only championship was in FRC, with New Cruelty, erscaptain is very knowledgeable and innovative, as proven with bots like Blitzkrieg. Now known as Shadywhtboy22, erscaptain continues to be a member of the community, in a much more low-key role. But a man who's done as much as he has doesn't have to do any more.

Fish Of Doom
Few other members have been both real-life competitors and custom league combatants. Fish Of Doom has embraced both worlds. With real-life bots like Thracktar and The Sock, he has competed at real events. In the world of custom leagues. Fish Of Doom is a juggernaut with champions like Blood Thirsty, Underall, and Japanese School Girl, along with other honors. Blending solid engineering with creativity, the bots are always interesting to look at, and worrisome to face in the arena. Stylish in both look and wit, Fish Of Doom also keeps the community alive in other ways. He is the founder of both Secret Santa and the Monthly Signature Theme, both of which enjoy wide popularity with the community. Having been around since the very early days, and a moderator since XSOrbit, Fish Of Doom remains as active as ever, and never tires of the community here. And why should he? So much of it is about what he brings to it. As long as he can keep giving it, he'll keep getting the joy in return, a vicious cycle that one can hope is never interrupted.

Gemini
In the Drowning City community, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting upon something that Gemini has been a part of. Going back the Comedy Central days, Gemini's love of the game made him a regular poster, a habit that has yet to be discontinued. Gemini's prowess in the arena is legendary. He has the most wins, the most championships, the most champions in a single tournament, the most championship bots, a championship in almost every roleplaying series, and one of only two members to have a custom champion in every weight division. He is the amalgamate of sound design, clever strategy, and faithful participation. As a constant poster, then a moderator, then a staff writer, and now an administrator under the name Area51Escapee, Gemini is the backbone of Drowning City. He has kept active in the leagues, and kept us entertained during the dry times with his wit and creativity in "The Gemini Show." If a crime was ever committed on this forum, although innocent, he'd have a right to be nervous because his fingerprints are all over the history, the activity, and the continuance of the Drowning City family.

Komodo
The man responsible for bringing us all together, Komodo created two of the long-term homes for the Drowning City community, saving us from the dregs of the poorly run and spam-riddled Comedy Central board, and the unreliable Delphiforums. What a day of relief and joy when a certain Anaconda_9 appeared on the Comedy Central board to direct us all to a new home, one that was more stable and actively moderated. With the snake exchanged for a lizard, Komodo9's XSO board would be a long-term home, until spammers and technical issues with the XSOrbit crew caused Komodo to take matters into his own hands. Thus was born the ARC board. Though the ARC database is irretrievably lost, Komodo's place among the honored can never be wiped away. Not only a president, but also a member, Komodo would also boss his way to a championship in Fantasy Fury with Gila. No longer an administrator, Komodo spends his time happily as a member of this family.

Omegaforce
Now known as StarlessSoldier, and briefly known as Zephyr, Omegaforce continues to be an intimidating menace in the arena, and a strong influence in the community as a whole. In his third forum as a moderator, Omegaforce manages to keep a firm yet yielding grip on the reins in the community. As a designer of fantasy bots, he was among the first to use CAD. He has run a league, won a championship, given technical advice, moderated....the man has done it all. And he continues to do so even while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Omegaforce is a symbol of strength, intelligence, creativity, and endurance, and where his destination lies, who can tell, but that the sky is the limit for Omegaforce.

succotash_54
Some people would call it egotistical for succotash_54 to make it on the first round of his own list. Some people aren't members of the Drowning City community. succotash_54 could be said to be the heart and soul of the family, because he never does anything here without passion. Whether discussing music or politics, or breaking records for lengthiest RPs, his heart is in it. Having been around since the Comedy Central days, there are few RP games he hasn't taken part in, and in his entire career, he has only forfeited once. His passion has overflowed into the creativity of many of his designs: from the head-turning Cow Tipper, to the head-scratch-inducing Warper, to the head-tilting The Aristocrats. Where he once didn't feel sure enough to draw up designs for custom leagues, succotash_54 has come a long way to becoming an administrator and results writer for the leagues, as well as one of two members to have a custom league dynasty. At ARCCON '06, he progressed from a vaporist to eventually being a rumble-winning driver. As active as ever, one can only wonder and eagerly watch what will be next for succtoash_54.

Team Ragnarok
He has never competed in a custom tournament, but the knowledge of the one first known as SerraAvatar, and now known as Coredesat has been an inspiration to us all, both in fantasy and in building. Team Ragnarok has won a championship in FRC3 with Hworf, but that's not what he's best remembered for. One of the universally cool people of the forum, plus his passion for electronica music, Team Ragnarok is almost synonymous with coolness. A man who has never drawn much attention to himself, it's almost ironic that he'd be a charter inductee, but to those of us who know and love him, it's no surprise at all.

TMDustBunny
She has never entered a fantasy league. She has no record to speak of in ARC, yet TMDustBunny is one of the most accomplished members of the Drowning City family. A real-life builder and competitor, TMDustBunny has done more than most other members here with the actual sport of robotics, including using her robots to protest the closedown of her high school's metalshop class. Refusing to think herself too good for vaporists and dreamers, TMDustBunny continues to grace the community with her presence, cheerfulness, can-do attitude, and fun-loving nature, which flows from a real-life effervescent personality. And all this isn't even taking into consideration her gender! One of only two serious female members of the family, the other being her mother, TMDustBunny, despite all her girlish charms, is much more than a token female member, who prevents the entire shebang from being a complete sausage-fest, the kind of girl one would expect to find in a clique of some hackneyed TV show or teen movie. Yet she uses and maintains said girlish charms as part of the community, continuing to cheer others wherever she hops. Forget Mary Poppins--it's a jolly holiday with TMDustBunny; no wonder that it's TMDustBunny that we love.

2007 INDUCTEES

Andrewbot
Few rival the real-life experience of Andrewbot. He has interacted with many real-life builders and even builds some of his own designs. A deadly roleplayer, Andrewbot's championship titles have come mainly in the old Fantasy Robotic Combat leagues, and many speculate that spotty participation is all that keeps him from multiple championships in the Advanced Robot Combat series. As the first to use his real name on the forums, Andrewbot also opened the door to the kind of familiarity now enjoyed here, to where most posters are more often addressed by their real names instead of their screen names. Currently, he keeps busy mostly with build reports and his gift of photography, where what one could write about him in one short paragraph, he could probably say volumes more with a single picture.

AndyS
Though not the most popular member of the real-life builders' circles, AndyS is one of said builders who has in the past kept in contact with the fans by being among them. Also a champion in Robot Arena 2, AndyS shows that he's not too big to take part of the fandom himself. He also has been a part by advising dreamers as to how to realize their dreams. If more builders were like AndyS, in keeping contact with the fanbase, the future of the sport would never be in question again.

dragon_agar
Little to nothing is actually known or remembered about dragon_agar, save this: he's an incredible amount of the reason we are still together. A poster who merely suggested the idea of creating role-playing games centered around robotic combat unknowingly inspired others and created a game that has taken several forms and survived at least two forums. If dragon_agar were still among us today, even he would be surprised at how far a mere suggestion can go.

DRD
Few others among us have had their psyches pondered so querously as DRD. A member who peaked in the Fantasy Robotic Combat games with two championships in the initial season, DRD showed that a good bot is a good bot. As a designer of his own bots, DRD was among the first to be thematic with designs, with themes from trucking to food service. Though originally laughed at, DRD had the last laugh when an unlikely design of his was proven to be culpable, as One-Wheeled Wonder came to fruition in real life. Although incidental, DRD has also given and inspired some of the more memorable quips from our days in the forums. With sporadic disappearances, DRD has found himself lampooned in the Gemini Show, but even he can laugh about it, showing the good nature that exists among us, and ideally would between us all.

LastID
Known also as Mental-Rectangle and currently as Spatula, LastID has always been among the cooler heads of the community, weighing situations carefully before typing out thoughtfully. His intellect and wit have carried him along since the early days of the Comedy Central boards in discussions of everything from physics to politics. Only currently has LastID joined the foray of the ARC series of games, and whatever season he turns out, we know that his bots will become tougher, his strategies will become wilier, and his standing will rise ever higher.

majin_nappa
One of the earlier members, and also one of the most missed, majin_nappa was a big part of helping to clear the old forums of annoying spammers. Also one of the early combatants of Fantasy Robotic Combat, he was known for choosing sturdy bots and drafting crafty strategies. Though the downside to his legacy includes recognition of the need for anti-debunking rules, it is sure that he would adapt to continue to beat his opponents in the arena. A sad day for the community came when he bid us adieu to tend to more pressing matters in the offline world. Wherever he is now, he'll always have a place here, and a mental image of Strike Terror to accompany him wherever he goes.

NO2
It's hard to say which name he is known better as: NO2 or Bling Bling. It doesn't matter a whole lot though, as it's understood who we mean. One of the most styling members of the gang, NO2 first arrived in the latter days of the Comedy Central forums with a breezy persona that indicated that nothing could faze him. Surviving the wave of suspicion that most new arrivals faced in those days, NO2 hung with us through the days of Delphi, XSO, and ARC, and now with us on Drowning City. An infrequent roleplayer, NO2 still managed to boast a winning record up through ARC Vengeance, and won third place in the second season of ARC Survivor. Anyone who has chatted with him on instant messenger knows that this guy is all about the good times, with almost no ability to hold grudges at all. With NO2, the good times roll and never end.

theorangehamster
One of the most humorously bizarre members, theorangehamster may also be the only member of the family who first joined up with us on the Delphiforums. He'd been around them for awhile before stumbling across the bbfanpost3 forum. Soon, he was a staple of the chatroom, wherein the absurd met the practical in the form of Deli Wars, where roleplayers could practice strategizing by using the ludicrous scenario of a delicatessen. He soon joined the fun of Fantasy Robot Combat, selecting longshots such as Crash Test Dummy for his fantasy team. The novelty would wear off as theorangehamster would later pick up serious bots, eventually taking second place in the lightweight division with Bonesaw. As captain of Team Testbot, theorangehamster was also known for creative designs. Despite some previously experienced hard feelings, theorangehamster still remains affiliated with the Drowning City community, and would still be making us laugh with outrageous yet useful whims.

torowinsagain2
One of those almost mythical members that few remember, torowinsagain2 has never been heard from since the Comedy Central boards went down. Having never joined us at Delphiforums, XSO, or any other board, the loss of contact with this member is truly a great loss overall. Though little is known, what torowinsagain2 is remembered for is pure, unadulterated passion for the sport. And yet for all that passion, he never crossed the line into annoying spammer and flame war territory. While adamant in defending the bots of Team Inertia Labs, he was respectful of others' opinions of bots. Also adamant in getting rid of spoilers and spammers, one is sadly only left to imagine what further impact he would have had among us, simply on the power of passion.

Toxic_Waste
Toxic_Waste... so many things to be remembered for. Early member, builder, forum administrator, frequent poster, roleplayer, all around fun person. Toxic_Waste first appeared on the Comedy Central boards with a love of the game. After the numerous problems with Comedy Central, he started a forum on Delphiforums for fans of Battlebots, before the XSOrbit board. This forum would also have a chatroom, which was constantly frequented at nights and on the weekends, as the community grew stronger and closer to one another. On XSOrbit, he was no longer an administrator or moderator, he brought a great livelihood to the board through frequently posting, and although a great deal of it was nonsense, it was still about keeping the spirit alive and the board vital. As a roleplayer, his designs were interesting and resulted in memorable bots like Tiki Dude. After a long hiatus, Toxic_Waste has returned, still full of the fun personality that made him an integral member in the beginning, and will keep him a member for some time to come.

2008 INDUCTEES

ACAMS
ACAMS is proof that the fandom of robotic combat does not belong solely to youth culture. Despite the difference in age between him and the second oldest member, ACAMS has pursued the world of fantasy robotics with the same vim and vigor as any of his younger counterparts. It has shown too, in his championship bot, A-Bomb, as well as other tough competitors such as Whirlwind and H-Bomb. Outside of the arena, ACAMS is best known for being Texan, which led to a running gag that has since run its course. Whatever his true personality, the presence of a metalshop owner, from which his screenname is derived, has been a tremendous blessing for the community.

clutch1
One of the quirkily funniest members of the gang, clutch1 is as much known for his ability to make us smile as he is for his robotic abilities. Having designed one of the coolest multibots, Primary 3, as well as the spinner Lightning, and the lame yet awesome Russianation, this cool and witty member of the forum has proven that you can be spastic and successful at the same time.

Diablo666
While his biggest claim to fame is winning the first season of ARC Survivor, Diablo666 is more remembered for his creativity with the CAD program. In the CAD contests, this British competitor always turned out some tough competition and some pretty cool looking bots. In the arena, his best success came with thermosphere-tossing Stratos-Fear, which spawned other bots in a similar vein. With a cool perspective to offset any blindspot on a mostly American board, Diablo666 ranks among the lesser sung heroes, who are now welcome to take their places among the honored.

G-Force
An ever-present personality both in the arena and outside of it, G-Force has left an unforgettable mark on the Drowning City community. With robotic dynamos such as Ring Around The Rosie, Endeavor, and of course, Shockwave, G-Force is also widely remembered for cool bots that didn't fare as well, such as Palette, Gayle, and Cascade. Outside the arena G-Force's posts have been all over the place and across a breadth of topics. For all the fun, frivolity, and fight that the FAAAAACE has brought us, we will always be grateful.

Greg_Gibson
A name that we have sadly lost touch with since the days of XSOrbit, Greg_Gibson was one of two people who was always there with technical advice and know-how to aid struggling builders and curious dreamers. An all-around good guy, he is a presence sorely missed, and the welcome mat will always be out for this man.

kiazi
A checkered history, kiazi is like the Parliament of this group. Just as Parliament was just as well-known by the name Funkadelic, kiazi is remembered as being another member of this community. Nevertheless, it is as a roboteer that kiazi should best be remembered. As captain of Team Search And Destroy, kiazi's chief gimmick has been that of interchangeable weapons. While he wasn't the first to use this idea, kiazi capitalized on the idea of interchangeable weapons in a way that no one else has. Many called it annoying, but no one can deny that it was also both planning for multiple contingencies and thinking outside the box: two feats that are always highly praised in good robot combat. Now known as chaos, the cavedog now deals with real life struggles that make constant contact impossible. Despite the past, we wish him well in getting things straightened out.

littlebot
A member with whom we've lost contact with since the days of XSOrbit, those of us who remember littlebot remember her for more than just being the mother of everyone's favorite Bunnybabe. littlebot first appeared on the Comedy Central boards and made a name for herself as a fan of Battlebots and a curious future builder. She stayed with the community in its days at Delphi, where she often joined in the chats, and followed us to XSOrbit, where she helped spark life into the board in its early days of separating from Comedy Central. While everyone rants and raves about her daughter, TMDustBunny, the fact is we wouldn't know TMDustBunny, and may not have had the same boost in our early days of self-governance without the grace, presence, and charm of littlebot.

Minion33088
What can be said about the ubiquitous Minion33088 that has not been said already? Known for both the incredible successes like Double Dose and AMP as well as the incredible failures like Maximum Overdrive, Minion33088 has been all over the board with the variety of bots he creates. Minion33088 has helped heighten the evolution of spinner bots with his creations, as well as created bots of other design styles, like Road Rage. As a poster, Minion33088 had the most posts on the ARC site. He's also been an administrator as well as a results writer. He's also built real bots, such as Hit Or Miss. In more recent times, he has further cemented his place in the community by serving as host of the ARC Conventions, and even made a cameo in "The Sequel Must Go On." He's been many things to Drowning City, and for that, we thank him.

Rejected
Rejected came to us through unusual means. A former member of the AceUplink forum, Rejected instilled a sense of confidence and superiority in this community with his being banned from AceUplink and his ardent embrace of what this community had to offer. In the robotic aspect, Rejected was an early participant in the Robot Arena 2 games and helped make them a tournament in their own right. Despite the latter day disappearance of this member, the contributions of Rejected are never to be forgotten.

toAst
Now known as i think i got my cat pregnant, it is little wonder he is more commonly remember as toAst. As a designer, he's proven that sound design matters more than clarity of picture. He's turned out solid designs in the forms of Gudfernuthin and F-Bomb. It was F-Bomb 3 that went all the way to the Finals in ARC Revolution, wherein it was a close fight. toAst dares to be creative too, and not fearing failure that may come. While some of his bots have been more beleaguered in the win category, we can never forget the sheer creativity that it took to turn out the likes of Chaosphere and You're Gonna Get It Dirty Shirley. An infrequent poster, he makes his statements jewels as much as possible. A great day came when he returned to the forum with his wit and interesting designs.

viper13black
It took some daring and a lot of thought to reinvent the way the fantasy leagues were done in order to create a new one, and despite his self-avowed lethargy, viper13black proved to be that person. The man co-created a league and game that took a little time to warm up to, but once it did, it caught on! Fantasy Robot Rumble stayed for the most part in viper13black's capable hands throughout the first three seasons, despite a long absence that resulted in new management. Nonetheless, he came back to help run it and finish both seasons three and four. As a roboteer, he has taken the championship with his double-wedge Pandemic II, and also nabbed a placing in the first season of ARC Survivor. Other well-loved bots of his include Plague, Rampant, and Catalyst. Though sporadic with his appearances, viper13black's presence among us is always a welcome sight.

2009 INDUCTEES

Bot257

Bot257's story has taken on mythic proportions over the years. As one of the greatest competitors of Custom Fantasy Leagues, Bot257 took Vengeance by storm by rolling thorugh most of the brackets with win after win. He trampled even some of the best such as Gemini and Omegaforce in the LW class. Then one day, he disappeared. He was never heard from again. To this day, his name is well known and his story is told to children around a campfire. When will the great Bot257 return? Nobody knows, but he will always be welcome here.

NWOWWE

As a veteran of other forums, NWOWWE was a great addition to the Advanced Robot Combat family when he joined. He was the only veteran member of Advanced Robot Combat that originally came to the forums purely based on recommendation by a friend. He has done a lot to contribute over the years as far as webshows, great competitor in the Advanced Robot Combat tournaments and regular ARCCon participant. Even as a late bloomer to the community, the community would not be the same without him, particularly in latter days as it now him who provides the roof over our heads in the online community.

Ry_Trapp0

Always a fun and interesting character of the Custom Fantasy League forums, Ry_Trapp0 always seems to be a dedicated fan of Custom Fantasy Leagues and other activites of Advanced Robot Combat and Drowning City. A character that seems to always have an opinion one way or another and fun to chat with. His trademark paint bots are always fun to look at while he became the first competitor to win John's resurrected Fantasy Fury tournament. A great competitor season after season, the most fitting tribute to him concludes with "LOL @ ^^^".

Siphai

A great example of a member that has come a long way over the years. Originally, Siphai was a member that started off slowly and eventually grew to become an Advanced Robot Combat staff member and one of the top results writers today. He became known for his passion of the game and a intellectual analyst of Custom Fantasy Leagues, which gave the sport more excitement. To this day, it's Siphai who has become one of the top competitors in the Custom Fantasy Leagues winning both the Defiance Award and Bozenda Award, two of the most prestigous awards you can earn. Advanced Robot Combat needs more competitors like Siphai.

taddo

Another one of the great names for the deep past now seemingly lost to the ages, taddo is remembered primarily for two things. First off, he was a cool-headed member. Whenever debates flared up between fans of teams, taddo was one of those who reminded people that in the end, it's fandom for the game that was most important, and that enmity only existed inside the arena, and not in the pits or outside the sport. Additionally, taddo was one of those who encouraged the love of the game. For fans who were not spammers, taddo was their to encourage. He understood that fandome breeds imitation, a thought that manifests itself in both real and virtual ways. Encouragement from people like taddo is the reason the Custom Fantasy Leagues are still thriving today.
