Artisanal, handcrafted, free range, gluten free, all natural, home style robots. Now with 50% less sodium.

ImageARCHIVE

Undertow (2-2)
My first robot, created to compete in /r/Battlebots Hammerfall. Intended to be a spinner-countering flipper, it had stat problems that held it back from much success.

Pelican (0-11), Royale (1-10), Undertow II (3-8), and D'Artagnan (1-10)
This ill-fated group of robots entered FRR: Backlash but dropped out when I quit robot combat for a while. They were a lifter/clamp, drum spinner, flipper, and hammerbot respectively.

Swordfish (3-3)
A maneuverable omni-drive flipper with a very long arm at the front. It did reasonably well in r/rBattlebots Pressure Drop, but had several key weaknesses.

The Angry Urchin (2-3)
A walking deathspinner I entered into Fixation: Monkeywrench. With 1 speed, it did about as well as you'd expect.

Frogbot, Water Strider, and Undertow III
My entries into Robot Bastards 2. They were all created in the span of about three hours (total) when I entered the tournament at the last minute. Frogbot is a lightweight Swordfish without the omni-drive, Water Strider an undercutter, and Undertow III very similar to its predecessors.

Screamroller
My potential entry into Adam's throwback tournament. It's got chain flails, a giant drum, casters, and only its welded steel tubing for armor. What more do you need in a robot, really?

The torchlight flickers as you strain against the ropes tying you to the wooden stake behind your back. Footsteps rustle in the undergrowth, and then you hear from all sides the chanting of the natives that captured you. You can't make out what they're saying, but it sounds ominous. The night breeze, previously refreshing after that sweltering day, now chills you. You shiver. What's that they keep chanting?

Yes, those are springs. Like shock absorbers, get it? :v:

It's got interchangeable fronts, namely the curved ram, the wedge, and the sharp pointy teeth of gnashing.

I made a big disc and attached a robot to it. Disaster's two wheels are suspended in the chassis, so they can still reach the ground (to an extent) if it's wedged or gyroing.
I may have spent too much time on this one, but I think it came out looking pretty nice. It's my first real spinner. (Angry Urchin and Royale don't count.)

I have never been a fan of floating drivetrains, but it looks like a pretty great VS design aside from that. I think the Weapon stat could stand to have an extra point or two in it, though, perhaps from Armour/Speed. Slower and better controlled would help point the weapon in the right direction, to counterbalance the narrow range of attack.

I thought I'd need higher speed to get into a good position, but control probably is more important. I went with floating wheels because otherwise they'd just leave the ground every time I tilted due to gyro when I turn, but yeah they're a little awkward. I'll figure something different out for version two whenever that happens.

See, I disagree... Prefer faster to slow and controlled: a vert's line of attack is thin enough that you need the speed to protect against flankers

i would agree with gabe, you need speed to bring the VS in play against most robots.

I'm glad I was on the right track then. I am just realizing I forgot a srimech, but maybe the disc can bounce it back upright or something.

Looks like it would do, given the size and power of it.

The Four Wheeled, Six Toothed Driving Purple Robot Eater

https://tinkercad.com/things/iJHuuSzNtqv

Well I saw the thing comin' into the box
It had the four ribbed wheels, one big tongue
I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee"
It looks like a purple eater to me

It was a four-wheeled, six-toothed, drivin' purple robot eater
(four-wheeled, six-toothed, drivin' purple robot eater)
A four-wheeled, six-toothed, drivin' purple robot eater
Sure looks strange to me (Six teeth?)

What I've got here is a dustpan-like lifter operated by two sets of actuators (dark grey in the picture.) A pair of fixed prongs act as leverage to keep the Robot Eater from just falling on its face when trying to lift. The armor around the sides and back is mounted such that it can move up and down a bit, and rides on the ground. It's like a hinged wedge, only without the wedge part. It's also a little rounded at the front on the bottom to keep it from catching on the floor.

Edit: It's officially a heavyweight!

Stats:
Speed: 7
Traction: 6
Torque: 2

Annie, are you okay?

You've been struck by... a wedge with some wedgelets and a srimech/flipper arm thingy. And a way-too-detailed interior... I got a little carried away. Again.

Stats:
 • 11 Armor (+1 to front wedge)
 • 1 Srimech
 • 8 Speed
 • 6 Traction
 • 4 Torque
