So yeah i'm going to start a CAD showcase thread where i'm mostly gonna show ARC tourament entries and we begin with my FRR No Mercy HW:

Golden Blaze

Image

Golden Blaze is a classic Tornado Mer design with a quite massive S7 tool steel blade, and in case it gets overturned, Gyroscopic effect will make it self-right the same way as the real one (for an example of this there is the Redrum vs Tornado Mer fight on youtube)

Sounds quite generic, right?

Now here is the fun part, the bot as actually acting as a Melty brain Sit-n-spinner and you guys maybe noticed the tooth at the sides of the circular chassis, this plus the quite fast spinning speed of the bot makes it can do quite a lot of damage; not to mention that it gives another mean of offense if the blade break down in battle, so yeah the blade already cause a nice amount of the damage to wedges, but the spinning motion of the chassis can knock them away while they are trying to get under, this is especially useful on bots too flat for the blade to reach them.

So yeah: DIE WEDGES DIE!!!

Also i was wondering how the stat system would apply for such a design.

Except the rest of my team in the next days

Hi frenchman, design looks good, needs some paint though.

GF93: Thanks

Massimov: Hey at least it's not Nary otherwise we would have been sumberged with random "manly" boasting

Anyway back on topic, FFR MW: Lost Ring

Image

Lost Ring is pretty much the classic ring spinner design with one exception, the high ground clearance makes him tilt forward while moving making the ring very close to the ground which means it can deal good damage/reduce effectiveness to wedges, it is however due to this very vulnerable if they come from the back though.

Thoughts ?
Any suggestion is welcome.

2WD ring spinners often have issues moving, i'd give it 4WD.

The tilting forward would probably mean the ring strikes the ground and spins the machine around, hindering its mobility as Badnik said. 4WD is usually the norm for ring spinners, but aside from that it's a decent job. Keep it up. =)

Other than the 2WD thing, the only other possible improvement would be to give the teeth a bit more reach.

For all intents and purposes, yes.

Ok except me to enter it in a few minutes after i remember the stats i have of it since i'm on a laptop instead of my primary computer, which have these

Golden Blaze is definitely a nice design and a neat concept, however I have serious doubts about how certain aspects will perform in the CFL Stat system.

While Weapon Power determines the power of the spinning blade, Speed actually determines the power of Y-Drives and Thwacks. So your stat system of:

13 Weapon
1 Torque
5 Speed
4 Traction
5 Armor

Means that yeah the blade will definitely be destructive, but the chassis itself will only rotate at 5 speed. It wouldn't really be fending off wedges too well in our system, I'm afraid, unless you put a bigger investment into speed (but that would require becoming even weaker in armor or traction, neither of which is something I would suggest).

Otherwise it's still a destructive robot with decent enough. You can still have it as a Y-Drive, or go to just a regular tank drive.

well i can dowgrade weapon to 12 and up speed to 6

edit: Here i come GF93, hehehe

Lost Ring 2

Image

Lost Ring 2 has a major design change now being an angled spinner with two side lifting arms to self-right it, by the way the spinner can hit VERY low wedges and cause some pretty big damage overall spinning at 3000 rpm

So yeah, IT'S ON NOW GF93

ignore these black lines and dots this is cause i took this picture in Edit Mode, i'll use a fixed screenshot when putting it in the FRR signups thread

I'd make the spinner itself a little flatter, but other than that it looks like a good design. Just be warned, the srimech arms detract from your weapon points.

Quite an interesting design with the angled spinner and all, almost like a wedged version of Warhead in some ways. Should be intriguing to fight!

A wedge is just going to get under that lip in front of the spinner and ignore the weapon entirely.
