Figured I'd make a thread here for my designs, past and present (And future as well) It will like an archive when I show my old retired bots, basically detailing their best highlight, worst defeat and whatnot. (Will go more in depth about the bots when I can be bothered)

To start us off, we have my old bot Scoopatron/Cockatron

Image

Career Highlight: Killing the lethal spinner, Wrath Of The Lich King

Worst Career Moment: Losing close decisions to Holy Kahuna, Force Feedback and Diamond Jimmy.

Status: Active (But for how much longer?)

Next up, Metallic Doom!

Image

Career Highlights: E.O.T.R Extreme Annihilator winner, 2 time best shuffler award (FRA)

Win against Punch Buggy via FF (CFL)

Worst Career Moment: Losing 9 matches and finishing second from bottom in the HW's

Status: Retired (Gonna be designed)

Now for my successful bot series, beginning with the forerunner: The Servant!

Image

Career Highlights: EXP League winner (FRA) Finishing ARC: Armageddon with a winning record of 6-4

Worst Career Highlight: Missing out on the play offs of ARC: Armageddon via an unfortunate FF

Status: Retired

And now, for The Servant's Assistant!

Image

Career Highlights: Mechanical Maelstrom 3.0. 3rd place, 2011 flipper of the year (FRA)
Reaching the finals of Robot Attack and FRR: Dead Zone

Worst Career Moments: Losing to Dr Robotnik in the Robot Attack finals and losing to D-REZ in the FRR: Dead Zone finals

Status: Active (To be retired after Ruination)

That's all for past bots so far (To be updated soon with the rest following) Now onto current bots/future bots

The Maiden

Image

Here is the Servant's Assistant's successor, in the SHW division!!! It may get scaled down to it's proper weight class. A fast flipping and ramming robot.

Merry Hampton

Image

Named after a steam train, this bot keeps the principles of a steam train, fast and reliable. It's practically an invertible 4WD Punjar with a shit colour scheme.

Captain Revolution (Got Lost On The Way To The Ship)

Image

The name is my shitty take on Kody's name for a robot "The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died" This bot is meant to be deadly with it's spinning hammers but have great wedge protection to deal with nasty bricks and flippers.

Fucking Annoyance

Image

The bots name is, much like the bot iself, Fucking Annoyance! It's essentially a tracked Biohazard clone with wedges all around to prevent bots from getting underneath with a Biohazard style 4 Bar lifter to tip it's opponents up and over. Can work invertible, but the lifter would be rendered useless

Flame Byxis 230WD

Image

My SteveOUT/Brushhog rip off design. A tracked bot with a deadly spinning disc with 4 teeth on it (Though only 2 are shown) for maximum damage. Works as an undercutter, but can be an overcutter when inverted. Runs both ways up.

That's all for now. All future designs will be posted here to prevent clogging up threads.

Time I dusted this place out and got to posting.

For a while, F-Dynasty has built up a reputation of being jacked like a brick outhouse. But all the same, it was slow compared to all the other bots it faced. And it's 8WD had nearly cost him a few times on occasions. A redesign was definitely in order. The first version was it would be a parallelogram with 4WD. While it looked good, it just didn't seem F-Dynasty like and looked really bland in my opinion. So I set about another version and got this....

Image

Please welcome, F-Dynasty 2! This time it has shed two wheels to go down to six, making it faster and better on turning. The scoop has been more refined into a conventional shape to eat blows from spinners better. The bot is aimed to be a lot more compact than last time, increased it's turning ability more. The back has been rounded in the event of flips so it always lands on it's wheels. It now features a skirt that goes all the way around the bot except at the front, with it being fitted tightly close to the chassis to help stave off undercutters and wedges alike. It features two set ups, one for dealing with spinners, and the other deals with wedges with a Tank/Underall-esque wedge attachment to it.

So there you have it, anyway I can improve it, let me know. Very much welcomed.

That's not to say it will be effective, but it could very well be.

F Dynasty 2 is looking like a pretty tough opponent to me. Should do well.

I was working on a few designs the other day and realised that I barely build spinners (Oval ones notwithstanding) I thought about some designs that I could use to good effect, a lot of them didn't seem to bear any fruit, except when I looked at a pic of the second incarnation of Ring Around The Rose. RATA 2 had this Son Of Wyachi thing going on with it's ring/cage thing, so I though why not?

Image

And here he is! ReVengeance The name came from the video game Metal Gear Rising: ReVengeance. This bot features a very similar cage/ring spinning thing like RATA 2, this one has 4 teeth instead of 3 however. Four wheeled drive with the ability to self right. What more can I say? Other than the fact it looks like a giant steering wheel!

Since I made the announcement of a new Crazy Bots tournament, I've set my sights on creating 4 unique arenas for the competition. The arenas will now be the Standard Crazy Bots Arena, Casa De La Box, Das Oval and The Insanitarium.

In fact here's the Das Oval arena for a it's first (Not so) big revealing.

Image

This is the Das Oval Arena. Heavily inspired by the arena from the failed ARC: Backlash tournament. This arena is (Well Duh) an oval shaped arena, with the larger burganduy oval being there for possible flips out of the arena. (You'll need a bit a power behind your flipper or a very fucking big run up) It's a basic arena with two hazards, at the north side a spinning drum. In the center are two arena floor flippers (Das fires north, while Oval fires south) which can throw super-heavyweights with ease. Last but no means least, there is a large brown button located at the south side of the arena. The button doubles the weapon power of each hazard, with the drum dealing more damage and possible out of the arena flips with the floor flippers.

So there you have it, the Das Oval Arena? What do you think guys? :)

Got to say, I'm liking the idea of an Arena that benefits Flippers, as well as the concept of multiple Arenas. All in all, looks good so far.

Perhaps as a nod to Casino Night Zone from Ruination, you could also design one based on Oil Ocean Zone? :P

Cool. Nice to see an arena where you can oota. I would render it if i knew how to do ovals in sketchup 8 :v:

Thanks for the positive feedback on Das Oval guys, I think you may like this next one.

Image

This is the Casa De La Box arena, it's very basic and very much encourages more active weaponry here. The only real hazard here is the big spike strip at the northern end of the arena. At the south end in the black and yellow colour scheme is the OOTA zone, in there, you can attempted to throw a robot out of the arena (The dark grey bit behind it) but be warned. When an opponent is thrown out, the wall will drop once to allow a robot a chance to get back into the fight. If they are thrown over a second time, they are out of the running. All in all, a much more spacious active weaponry encouraging arena.

I must say I'm kind of surprised by this recent surge in OOTA style Arena's. I guess as long as it's not as devestatingly easy as it is in Lumina Cloth it's okay, but I've never been the biggest fan of it.

Well that's reasonable enough I suppose for the flippers, but how many spinners even have that low of a weapon to begin with? Besides, I think that spinners knocking a bot out is far more luck-based than a flipper doing so.

Though if I may ask: since you are going with multiple arena's, will there be any arena's with no OOTA potential?
