NFX

Aug 16 2013, 03:36 PM

I'd say it was a good design in its own right, but it's not particularly ToC-ish, in my view. It's alway been a taller, boxier machine, and seeing it as a low, sleek thing doesn't really fit to me.

I'm impressed with your drawing skills, though. Especially the isometric view.[/quote]Glad you like it, Nick. I suppose it might not work as a ToC variation, but I might salvage it and see if I can make something good from it. Also, damn boxy flippers, everyone should know that sleek and low ones are better. :D

Well "unimpressed" isn't really being fair. It's a good bit of drawing, it's just like what NFX said in that it's a radical departure from the usual ToC design.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

I did mean it as a bit of a joke, but yeah. I didn't intend for it to be the final design, but something you could potentially base the new version on. You've got to admit the chrome letters were cool, though. :P

Here's War Bastard Mk 2. Following on from its success in FRR Dead Zone, I've brought it back and improved certain aspects. It now has two discs rather than one this time (Though can be set to have one in either height depending on opponents.), with Psyclone-style teeth designed for carving into opponents and wrenching off whole plates, and driven by the same power source so that it counts as a single weapon system. Add that to a more compact and better-protected design which includes better adaptability against lifters with drive that extends out the back, whilst still maintaining its previous traction and precision in attacking. It's an early draft so far, hence no patterns cut into the disc yet for instance, but could be pretty good if done right. Thoughts?

EDIT: Shit, forgot the alternate views. :'(

I think it's pretty good. =) If you're wanting to better fight lifters and such, maybe it's best to keep the discs solid, so there's less for opponent's to catch onto.

Ah, good point. Still, I don't intend for them to be Mazakari-esque crevasses, but more like those little patterns you get on Nightmare and Backlash's discs- cut down weight and look cool, yet still be small enough to prevent lifters from catching into them.

This next design could be considered a little less interesting, but could be good if statted correctly-
Image
Here's Torque of Cruelty. I based this one predominantly off the original Wedge of Doom, and Vector of Armageddon from Robot Wars Series 1. Designed for LW Divisions where there are lots of Spinners or Bricks, I wasn't trying to be fancy with it, but based predominantly on aggressive defence, with principles that always work well.
It's a very wide and invertible design with a symmetrically laid-out scoop front for ramming and potentially overturning opponents, angled plates on the sides to deflect horizontal blows, and should have a great degree of power for its size, allowing it to bulldoze almost anything out of the way.

On top of that, it's all wrapped up in very thick armour, with electronics mounted independently of the chassis for additional protection, and has a good degree of speed with particularly high traction and control from its wide tyres, making it a tough, reliable and very controllable design that's more than capable of giving as good as it gets.
How? Because sometimes, you just need a little less weapon. :v:

Thoughts?

I like this. It could definitely work against spinners, but it might be a little too specialised in that regard. Wondering how well it would do against other designs. The proof of the pudding, and so forth.

Ain't nothing else that'll get through that Armour. :P
