lol I'm no Chili Pepper's fan by any stretch of the imagination either, but every now and then even bands I dislike come up with something I can enjoy.

As for yours... I usually tend to enjoy more "unknown" disco hits than the popular/well known ones (Chris isn't around to yell at me for saying good things about disco is? nope? good), but this one just wasn't working for me. Dunno why. Nothing really wrong with it, but usually when I listen to a disco song I wanna be "Man I really have to hear the full 12" version if it has one!", but this was... ehhh okay. 5/10

But I'll continue with the cover songs with one that you'd probably never heard of but one that I think indisputably blows the original out of the water. You can call me a biased fanboy. I don't care. :v: But man... I can't even listen to the Supremes version of this song any more after hearing the Tops version. The Supremes version now feels so bland and empty. Everything just screams improvement for me. The instrumentation is better. The lead vocals are better ( :v: ). And the background vocals are so much more involved including what has to be some of the best stuff I've heard Duke do (he's absolutely killing it up top!). But that's enough of me gushing about it, you're probably not interested in all that. :proud:

Admittedly, I like the kind of disco that's in the blurry gray area between soul and disco, where you'll generally find artists like Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes, the Spinners, Barry White, etc. The Real Thing's version of that FV tune was in that area.

As for the Tops... well, you can usually tell when the group's having a rough time because it shows in the product. In the case of the Supremes, that was at the time when Florence Ballard was fired from the group after complaining about Diana's shit. At that point, it became clear that Diana was gonna get her way every time because she was sleeping with the boss. Did I mention that Diana was a pariah to pretty much everyone else in the Motown family? Yeah. Btw, to give you an idea how tripping Diana's ego was by this point, "Reflections" was the first single credited to "Diana Ross And The Supremes" instead of just the Supremes. So, you could tell in their version that personalities were clashing and that ties were fracturing. So, it's not too difficult for anyone else's version to top (see what I did there?) theirs. The Four Tops rendition is much better, and I'll give it a 7/10

Flipping the coin of the previous lesson, here's a cover version that Frankie recorded that was far superior to the original. The original was actually a #1 hit in 1963 by a group called Ruby And The Romantics, but I've always found it to be treacly pap. This better version highlights what a disco superstar Valli could have been if he hadn't been more disposed towards ballads by this point.

I quite enjoyed it. I usually don't listen to Frankie Valli but this was definitely worth a listen. I'll give it an 8/10.

Here's one sure to get the adrenaline pumping.

Some trademark Muse, pretty good to get adrenaline flowing, as you said. 8/10

I'm gonna try something a little different here. Video game soundtracks are something that I enjoy, here's one of the more obscure and unlikely songs I've been listening to.

That seemed rather more like a Boss battle track than a simple "choose your vehicle" track! :D 9/10

And going back to my movie scores, here's one from the list of films that never fails to make me misty eyed.

What can I say? It's bad-ass, it's dramatic, and it's Terminator. Full marks. 10/10.

Now, for something that will surely get rated lower, have a gander. :v:

For the record, I've always had my music roots in classic or alternative rock, metal was something I got into later. :v: Most other genres don't appeal to me.

8/10- not heard of them, but I must admit, I do quite like it.

And here's something a little different. I know it's going to be quite embarrassing to admit, but this is one I personally like, and I sometimes listen to it whilst I RP. :$

I've never been a big Fleetwood fan, but it was decent. 6/10.

In return, have some Deftones. Personally, I found their White Pony album here overrated but it's still okay.

Can never have enough Deftones! :D 8/10

For my pick, I'm gonna have some uncopyrighted rock for my pick. Found these guys a few months ago, and I like their stuff, hope they make it big.

Perfect may be a stretch, but with how picky I can be about metal that was enjoyable enough 7/10.

Another 6/10 from me. I like ZZ Top at times, and this track is alright, but I wouldn't go out of my way to hear it again.

Next up, one of my favourite AiC tracks.

Decent song, sounded a little messy at times with the vocals and such. Maybe that's just grunge influences or something. Not entirely my sort of thing, 6/10.

Let's quicken the pace.

Interesting cover of the Vapors' original. 6/10

Gonna stop with the lessons for now... I think the class fell asleep, which means you're all going to flunk the final. Tsk, tsk.

So, meanwhile, I'm going to defend the musical validity of the commercial jingle. They make up a good portion of the soundtracks of our lives (to quote Dick Clark), and unlike a lot of indie/alt shit where even the artists often have no clue what they're about, there's no guessing what the point of these jingles is. And if it weren't for the sheer repetition with which the commercials aired, we'd love them a lot more. Here's one I clowned on on Facebook not too long ago, but as a piece of music, it's pretty good.

Well apart from a desire to drive to my local Little Caesars I also have a desire to punch you in the face for putting that jingle in my head. :P :v: /10

Now for a massive improvement to a Four Seasons song, just for your cheek Philip. :dawg:

I love the Spinners, but gotta bag on this and their "cover" of "Cupid", where they made up extra lyrics just to avoid paying royalties. 4/10

Time for some hip-hop
