NASCAR ARC Series

Post by Badnik96 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 9:06 pm

We're here at Michigan International Speedway to bring you the next ARC Series race! Michigan is a big, wide track with plenty of room to race, so we should get to see a lot of action this time around! On the pole is last race's winner Antonio Alberts looking for win number two, while on the outside pole is Bjorn Kristjansson, also hunting for his second win.
Image
The field immediately stretches to three wide as all the cars battle for position. However the field doesn't even finish two laps before Aiko Asakura bounces off the wall and takes out a huge pack of cars including Robin Best, Alex Valentine, Ron Waffle and Timothy Victor. A number of cars opt to come in and top off on fuel, including the leaders. Both WTFM cars as well as Akira Queen stay on track, as well as five or six other cars. Ranger Joe leads the field to the restart.
Image
Joe leads for several laps, but his teammate Snuffy McAirborne makes a move to pass. However he loses speed and is overtaken by Queen, giving up second. While those two battle for the lead, two other cars battle for a more important lead - the points lead. Kirk Kidd and Takumi Fujiwara are racing very close to each other, and this race could easily decide who takes the lead in points. With only 11 points separating them going into this race, it's anyone's game.
Image
The second caution comes out on lap 17, when Pinky Machibuse loses control of his car coming out of turn 2 and spins out on the backstretch, collecting Johnny Rosales, Kyle Wood, Harold Cunningham and Tanner Grant.
Image
A number of mid-pack cars pit on this caution, hoping fresh tires and car adjustments will help them race their way to the front. Ranger Joe still leads the field, with Akira Queen, Ruri Thomson, Snuffy McAirborne and Scott Jackson rounding out the top five. Thomson moves into second soon after the restart, and there's a 3-wide battle for third behind him. Evan Henderson takes advantage of this and uses it to pull into the top 5. Thomson tries to pass for the lead but he can't get it and McAirborne moves back into 2nd. Kirk Kidd sneaks into the top 5 on lap 28, hunting for his 7th win to distance himself from Fujiwara. Queen and McAirborne battle for the 2nd spot and a chance at the lead, but no one can pass Ranger Joe. Not to be outdone, Fujiwara enters the top 10 around lap 32, looking to make this an exciting battle for the points lead. Queen very nearly gets past Joe on lap 34, but he's outrun off of turn 2 and falls back in line. It soon becomes a 3-wide battle for 2nd as Queen, Henderson and McAirborne run the length of the track in a drag race for the position. On lap 41 a set of new faces enter the back half of the top 10 as the field continues to shuffle, including Karl Smith, George Plinkleton and Chase Spader. Despite Queen's best efforts it's still Ranger Joe's race. Smith and Plinkleton are both able to race their way into the top 5, with Plinkleton coming even further ahead and tries to challenge Queen for third. McAirborne, with help from Kristjansson, finally gets past his teammate on lap 49 to become the third leader of the race.
Image
It's still neck and neck for the points lead, as Kidd and Fujiwara race side by side in 8th and 9th. Green flag stops begin on lap 54, which really gives the field a chance to shake up. The cars that pit on the second caution do not pit on this cycle, and Scott McHale leads the field as the pit stops cycle through. Ranger Joe picked up the lead over the rest of the cars that did pit, meaning that when McHale finally pits he will have the lead once again. McHale pulls into pit road on lap 65, but one car still does not pit: the 7 of Timothy Victor. Before Joe or any of the others could catch up to McHale and the other cars that didn't pit, Antonio Alberts spins trying to muscle past the slow car of Mike Hunt, bringing out caution number three on lap 67.
Image
This puts almost the entire field on the tail-end of the lead lap, with McHale, Timothy Victor, Ji-Sung Ki and Matthew Vincent in a 4-car shootout behind them to decide the leader. The restart causes another yellow however, as Jaelon Sapp and Will Harvey get together. Harvey tries to merge back into the pack but instead collides with Dave Davies, also taking out Seth Martin and Hoyte Burnett.
Image
This resets the field so that all the cars can actually challenge McHale for his lead. Joe quickly maneuvers past the two V-Raptor cars and Ki, hoping to get his lead back before the race ends. Also maneuvering through the pack of pit strategists is Kirk Kidd, looking to rain on everyone's first-win parade. Joe, with help from Ki, is able to push past McHale with 12 to go, but McHale isn't giving up the ghost just yet, and he hangs on to challenge for the lead once again! Behind them, most of the rest of the field is very strung out, with no one in any position to make a surprise move to the front. McHale gets to Joe's back bumpet several times, but he just isn't able to make the pass. And despite his and Kidd's best efforts, Ranger Joe is able to hold out and win at Michigan! Congrats to Brian!

Third place may not be a win, but it's a solid result and allows Kidd to hold onto the lead until he round fully back into form. Aislin Sheehan is an inspiration to little girls everywhere. Johnny Rosales is a pizza delivery driver.

NASCAR ARC Series

Post by Badnik96 » Tue Apr 04, 2017 7:25 pm

Good evening and welcome to tonight's NASCAR ARC series race! This week we're racing at the illustrious Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the Indy 500! It's sure to be an excellent race here. On the pole tonight is Antonio Alberts, and in second we have Pinky Machibuse.
Image
Alberts gets a fantastic start, leaping in front of the pack to take an early lead. Machibuse quickly falls back through the field as Scott Jackson comes up into second, with Dave Davies, Ron Waffle and Matthew Vincent rounding out the top 5. Davies passes Jackson as Alberts continues to pull away. At this point the field starts to spread out, as they settle down for the long run. Jackson returns to second on lap 9, with Waffle behind him as Davies drops to 4th. Adam Lawson enters the top 5, passing Vincent, with points leader Kirk Kidd behind him. On lap 11, Jackson passes Alberts for the lead.
Image
Kirk Kidd enters the top 5 as the back of the top 10 battles for position, with teammate Johnny Rosales behind him in 5th. Rosales then passes his teammate, continuing his charge to the front. Rosales continues his charge, passing Davies on lap 19 for third, followed almost immediately by Alberts, putting the 0 car in 2nd. As far as the points race is concerned, while Kidd sits in the top 5, his rival Takumi Fujiwara struggles in 24th after a poor qualifying run. Rosales takes the lead on lap 23, but Jackson doesn't let him take it easily:
Image
The two battle for the lead until Jackson takes it back on lap 28, but doesn't hold it for long as Rosales retakes it a few laps later. On lap 33, green flag pit stops start. The field has mostly cycled through when Will Harvey and Chase Spader get together while battling for position, sending Spader into the wall.
Image
Davies leads the field to the restart behind a field of slower cars (as is the norm for cautions mid-green flag stops) with Rosales in 2nd followed by Alberts, Jackson, and Kidd. Rounding out the top 10 are Harvey, Evan Henderson, Inky Aosuke, Todd Eaton and Ruri Thomson. Jackson takes the lead soon after the restart as Davies gets held up by a line of slower cars. On lap 45, Sean Bennett is turned into the wall by Tanner Grant. He is collided into by Magga McDonald, and the collateral damage takes out several other cars including Todd Eaton, Alex Valentine and Robin Best, among others. Ron Waffle also got rammed into the pit wall so hard that his car was impaled and needed to be extracted via crane.
ImageImage
Jackson leads on the restart followed by Alberts, Rosales, Aosuke and Kidd to round out the top 5. Rosales quickly retakes second again as Jackson storms into a 1-second lead courtesy of some lapped cars. Also moving on the restart is Aislin Sheehan, who has had a solid top-15 run up to this point but restarted 7th and was able to maneuver around the lap traffic up into third. The caution comes out for the third time on lap 52 when Harvey spins out Matthew Vincent.
Image
Rosales passes Jackson on the restart to retake the lead for the third time. Following him into second place is Sheehan, with Alberts running fourth and surprise Karl Smith running 5th. At one point in this race Karl was dead last. Smith continues his charge by passing Jackson and Alberts to enter third place behind the two MGM cars. On lap 66, Sheehan passes for the lead, with 14 laps to go.
Image
Rosales isn't going to take this lightly however and he passes back 2 laps later. The two battle bumper-to-bumper, with Sheehan finally getting the lead back with 4 to go. Rosales passes her again the next lap, leaving 3 to go. The race gets so heated that Sheehan makes contact with Rosales coming out of turn 4, nearly spinning both of them. With one to go, it looks like Rosales has a good enough lead to keep Sheehan behind him, and he holds the lead just long enough to win! Congrats once again to Alex!

Damn, all three teams in the top 10?!

Johnny edging out Aislin for the win?

Kirk not winning after starting 13th and not being involved in any boops?

What kind of bizarro universe is this?! I like it!

Good evening everyone! We're here at Watkins Glen, New York, for the NASCAR ARC Series race at their road course! This should be a fun race to watch as it's anyone's game! On the pole tonight is George Plinkleton, and alongside him is Takumi Fujiwara who's looking to take over the points lead from Kirk Kidd.
Image
Fujiwara gets a fantastic start and pulls into the lead, quickly opening up a gap between him and Plinkleton. Ranger Joe, Will Harvey Jr and Karl Smith round out the top 5. As Fujiwara expands his lead to over 4 seconds, the rest of the field spreads out, making it tough to pass or advance position. On lap 25, the 42 of Ruri Thomson comes to a stop in turn 1. No caution is thrown, but at the end of the lap Plinkleton blows a tire coming out of the final turn and nose-dives right into the barrels protecting the pit road wall. His car is junked, and the caution comes out.
Image
The field pits and Joe very nearly passes Fujiwara on pit road, but he's just short of it. He comes out in second with Smith in third followed by Harvey and Matthew Vincent. Thomson returns to the track 2 laps down after fixing the car. Akira Queen makes an unscheduled stop for a loose wheel, dropping back to the tail end of the field.

In all honesty this race was a snoozer, but Fujiwara put together a dominant performance at the Glen and takes home the win he needed! Congrats to Zach!

NASCAR ARC Series

Post by Badnik96 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 8:52 pm

Good evening and welcome back to the NASCAR ARC Series! Tonight's race is going to be a fun one, 250 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway, one of the most exciting tracks on the circuit! On the pole tonight is Adam Lawson, with Ji-Sung Ki alongside him.
Image
Lawson rockets out front to start the race, with third-place starter Akira Queen behind him running second. The rest of the field scrambles for position in double-file. Eventually a top 5 files out, including Bjorn Kristjannson, Kyle Wood and Dave Davies. Lawson dominates early, creating a huge gap between him and Queen and catching the back end of the field within 20 laps. Meanwhile, last-place starter Kirk Kidd is doing what he does best, racing his way into the top 20. I'm honestly not even surprised anymore. He still has a ways to go to catch up to his rival Fujiwara though, as he's running 9th. On lap 37, Queen catches Lawson with help from lapped traffic and makes the pass, taking the lead.
Image
Once the field spreads out, things seem to settle down as it becomes more difficult to pass. Around lap 80, however, the tires get worn out enough that it's much easier to pass, and there's 2-wide racing all over the track. On lap 97, Pinky Machibuse retires due to an engine failure. Ki passes his teammate Kristjannson for second and starts battling Queen for the lead. The battle for points is still on, as Fujiwara and Kidd run exactly five positions apart from each other, effectively tying them in the standings. Ki gets past Queen on lap 119, marking the third lead change.
Image
Green flag stops begin on lap 130. As pit stops complete their cycle, Kirk Kidd spins out into the pit barrels, throwing the first caution.
Image
This puts literally 2 cars on the lead lap: Ji-Sung Ki and Akira Queen. Also during the caution, Magga McDonald and Adam Lawson both retire, McDonald due to a collision on pit road and Lawson due to an engine failure. A few laps after the restart, a big wreck happens involving many cars including Aiko Asakura, Chase Spader, Seth Martin and more.
Image
Soon after that, Kidd's car is spun out again, causing caution #3
Image
Queen re-takes the lead from Ki after this caution. Snuffy McAirborne, basically unseen before this restart, passes Ki for second early on, but Queen has the dominant car here. Cars move all over the track in the final leg, but no one can come anywhere near Akira Queen as he takes win #2! congrats Mr. AS!
