On a secondary note, I am rebranding Raptor Racing to Ignition Motorsports. This is to avoid confusion with Sapp's team and also to "modernize" as i haven't used Raptor for any team names in a long time.

So far, Kidd sure is performing exactly as his storyline predicted. Gotta say, I was cautiously optimistic but never thought he'd actually do so well. I'm loving this win too! It sounds like it was an exciting race. Too bad that Rosales has dropped off, though. It sounds like he was in the mix this time until electrical troubles torpedoed his chances. Sheehan is hot, at least? Lord knows she doesn't have much else going for her atm.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Seth barely holding a playoff spot! Very average season so far for my whole team. Very disappointed in me and Hoyte.

(btw are we doing playoffs or old school Winston Cup format?)

Again, i'm going to be trying to catch up on the races I missed as quickly as possible, so here's another one for tonight. We're racing at Richmond, one of the smaller courses and a personal favorite of mine.

On the pole tonight is Timothy Victor, another strong qualifying effort for him, and alongside him is Aislin Sheehan, in sore need of a good finish. Alex Valentine crashed on his qualifying lap and starts last in a backup car.

The top lane immediately proves the slow lane, and 3rd-place starter Kyle Wood pushes past Sheehan for 2nd on the opening lap. However, he is quickly bumped to the top lane himself by Todd Eaton, while Victor begins to open up a lead on the field. Ranger Joe gets inside of Eaton, loosens him up and pushes him aside for second, with Chase Spader trying to do the same to Joe. However, Joe quickly snags the lead and leaves Spader battling with Victor for 2nd. Spader quickly gets to Joe's back bumper and challenges for the lead. Meanwhile, last-place starter Alex Valentine has been running rampant through the field, racing up to 18th within the first 10 laps and showing no signs of slowing down. Joe holds off the challenge by Spader and begins opening up a lead, with Spader in 2nd and Bjorn Kristjansson tailing them in third, with Victor and Aiko Asakura rounding out the top 5. This order settles in for a while until Kristjansson bumps Spader out of the way for second and starts reeling in Joe for the lead. Near the back of the pack, Pinky Machibuse gets loose off the nose of Robin Best, slamming the wall.
Image
A few laps later, in similar fashion, Tanner Grant is spun out by Karl Smith.
Image
Neither of these incidents send out the caution flag, but Grant chooses to pit afterwards and loses two laps. Meanwhile, Ranger Joe has staved off Kristjansson for the time being and has opened up another gap on the rest of the field. The 93 continues his climb, racing up to 8th by lap 60. Also on the move is Blinky Akabei, driving his way into the 6th spot. Joe hits slow traffic on lap 65, and he's checked up, which allows Kristjansson to close the gap and make another pass for the lead. Joe finally makes it past Machibuse, with Kristjansson in hot pursuit. Kristjansson finally passes for the lead on lap 72, but Joe isn't giving up and sticks with him. The race continues until lap 79, when Aislin Sheehan's engine blows up, but due to a steering issue collides with the water barrels that protect the outer wall of pit road. The rear of her car is collided with by George Plinkleton, who was racing Adam Lawson for position. He spins and is t-boned by Travis Scalabrine. The resulting collision causes Plinkleton's car to roll over, do a pirouette on its nose and land on its wheels.
Image Image

Kristjansson leaves the pits first, followed by Spader, John Hayward, Asakura and Akabei. Ranger Joe's pit crew fumbles on pit road and he restarts 16th. While most of the front runners are blocked from the bottom line by lap-down cars, Timothy Victor uses this to his advantage and dives low on the restart and ends up driving into 2nd. Kristjansson quickly opens up a 1-second lead on the field while everyone scrambles for track position. Seth Martin ends up in second with Robin Best, Blinky Akabei and Antonio Alberts rounding out the top 5. Ranger Joe quickly races up from 16th to 6th in this time frame, then passes Alberts for 5th. Also of note is Harold Cunningham, who drives his way into the top 10 for the first time this season during this segment of the race. Martin loses 2nd to Akabei, and then is passed by Best and Joe, dropping to 5th. Travis Scalabrine, despite ramming the 84 car side-on, has managed to not only survive the wreck, but race competently on the lead lap. In the meantime, Best has passed Akabei and starts slowly catching up to Kristjansson. The second caution occurs on lap 110, when Dave Davies gets turned by Jaelon Sapp and they both collide with the inside wall.
Image

During the pit stop, Chase Spader and Aiko Asakura are penalized for speeding on pit road, and both lose a lap serving their penalties. Kristjansson once again leads on the restart, but Timothy Victor once again ducks to the inside and is able to take the lead from him after a few laps. However, he is passed soon after by Antonio Alberts and Akira Queen. A third caution flag is thrown on lap 123 when Harold Cunningham turns Karl Smith into the wall in front of half the field, who all skid to avoid the collateral damage.

Image

This caution shakes up the field massively, with Alberts retaining his lead followed by Ruri Thomson, Scott Jackson, Inky Aosuke and Akira Queen. Queen uses the low line to steal the lead when the race goes green again. He is followed by a train of four drivers, pushing Alberts back to 5th. Queen is unable to keep this lead however as he is overtaken by Robin Best not too soon after. Best also loses his lead quickly to Inky Aosuke, who hands it off to John Hayward. Also in the mix is Kirk Kidd, who I swear to god always ends up in front of these things. He passes Hayward after a few laps. He's followed by Queen, who battles with Kidd back and forth for a couple laps before Kidd takes off. Hayward quickly closes that gap and challenges for the point, stealing the lead again. Soon things quiet down, and Hayward and Queen break away from the pack and open up a two-car battle for the lead. Queen falls off and his place is taken by Kidd once again, with Alberts in hot pursuit. Alberts passes Kidd for 2nd, and then Queen loosens Kidd out of the groove, causing him to lose a spot to Queen and another spot to Aosuke. Meanwhile, race leader John Hayward loves all this battling for position as it allows him to start opening up a lead on the rest of the field. The top 5 finally quiets down with Alberts in 2nd, Aosuke in 3rd, Queen in 4th and late-race surprise Evan Henderson in 5th, who has raced his way through the field despite being a lap down at one point. Aiko Asakura, who had been racing in front of Hayward on the tail end of the lead lap, is finally caught and passed, and this creates another power struggle throughout the top 10. Alberts and Henderson drop, and in their place are Kirk Kidd and Kyle Wood. Wood continues his drive through the field, passing Queen for 3rd. Everyone's still hellbent on catching Hayward with 20 laps to go, and while the gap is slowly closing, no one is sure if they'll catch him. Queen gets past Wood and Aosuke once again and begins closing in on the lead, but he can't quite get to him. Wood makes it to Queen's bumper and works on second with 10 to go. Wood loses Queen, which allows Queen to catch back up to Hayward. They race like this until the final lap, on the final turn. Queen ducks low to pass for the win, and he's able to get by Hayward off of turn 4 to win the race!! Congratulations to Mr. AS and the vaporwave crew!

Kirk with another top 5. Rosales has middle-of-the-table mediocrity on lockdown. It's his calling card. Sheehan continues to represent women drivers admirably.

Yay for patterns continuing to hold.

Damn Asakura, you could have had a good run if not for speeding into the pits. What a shame.
