SCARLETT AND TELLU

The pair use Scarlett's newly enhanced discs to travel to the glimpse of the gelatinous cube. It turns out that in the strange gravity of this place, while still a lot quicker than walking, the fact that gravity is in every direction on the ground makes leaving it an unpleasant experience. As they land, Tellu vomits, and even Scarlett has felt better. Tellu is now in even more urgent need of finding food.

Nonetheless, while the cube is not here, they can see a trail of slime indicating a large passage it has headed off down...

SCARLETT AND TELLU
The pair trudge down the passageway following the trail of slime, and after a while it widens out into a larger area, and ahead they see the gelatinous cube.

It its about 3m cubed and appears to have a small amount of items absorbed inside of it, and appears to be trying to absorb some creature resembling a mole cricket, but the size of a horse... the mole cricket is struggling and chirping in distress, but is unable to prevent itself being digested by the cube on it's own.

Tellu examines the situation more! As best as an exhausted, magic deprived, and extremely hungry plant Witch can do, that is.

SCARLETT AND TELLU

Tellu examines the room in a bit more depth and finds it a narrow but tall chamber 15m diamater and 700m tall relative to where you are standing. The cube seems to have positioned itself on a route the mole cricket would take to get to some fungus growing further up/down the chamber.

There's nothing else for it. With little other options, Tellu casts Mandragora Busters at the cube one-handedly, hoping they do something. She doesn't want to physically touch the cube.

SCARLETT AND TELLU

Tellu fires her mandragora buster at the gelatinous cube, and though she is severely depleted in magic in this place, the gelatinous cube has a reasonable sized crater blasted out the side of it. The cube slowly releases it's hold on the cricket, which seems to be stunned, and slowly tries to escape. Apparently it's not up for direct confrontations.

As you look at the room, you notice that in the chunk of the cube that you blasted off, there are various nuts and bolts and a small broken data pad. It looks like it would probably need new batteries to work, but embossed on one side is the phrase "Void Ship Gawain".

Apparently Tellu's exhaustion made her a bit forgetful [OOC: or maybe the guy who entered her is denser than lead :V].

Using the power of the Bitch Queen's Tiara, she decides to absorb whatever remains of the life out of the gelantinous cube. She does a bit of this to the creature it was trying to eat, too, ensuring it sticks around, but not too much so that it immediately dies.

SCARLETT AND TELLU

Tellu casually follows after the cube and uses the draining powers of the bitch queen's tiara to pull life force from it. The odd creature doesn't stand a chance, with it unable to flee at any great speed... the whole thing collapses outwards into a puddle of mucous. Amidst its remains it is mostly husks of the crustacean creatures you have seen around, but a few other items of note appear:

- A passable sword
- A small distress beacon drone
- A pouch of 500 credits
- A sealed leather satchel containing a book of matches, a journal, a bottle of unidentified liquid and a strange device like a 3 dimensional compass.
- One boot of enhanced speed.
- An empty brass bird cage.

Turning her attention to the cricket for a moment, she drains a little of it's energy too.

Overall, she feels fully recovered from the pain darts Jackdaw inflicted on her, and her wrist has closed up healthily as if it has been always that way. She is however still without a hand, and the rumbling of her stomach suggests it didn't do anything about the hunger either.

Feeling a bit better (though still famished), Tellu takes the sword, the pouch of credits, and the satchel. She grabs the journal and flips through it to see if there's anything of note.

TELLU AND SCARLETT

The journal appeared to be the property of someone called Thandana Ununquadium. She appears to have been a cadet aboard the Void Ship Gawain and the early part of her journal records day to day life aboard the Gawain from the initial excitement of getting the post, to the horrible reality of being a bottom level dogsbody aboard a voidship where everyone else treated her like dirt.

The more relevant thing here though is that it records the crash and the immediate aftermath - apparently the crew that were left thought it seemed to be a technical glitch, but, as a result, they were now stuck in this "padding dimension". Not quite the void, but merely because someone being in the void would be paradox, and so they were put into what she describes as "the bubble wrap of dimensions".

Apparently 9 people survived other than herself, and had set up camp in the remains of the Gawain - it sounds like she'd been out on a crustacean hunting mission at the time her journal ends - presumably when the cube got to her...

Scarlett takes the compass out of the satchel and tries to figure out how to read it. She also examines the distress beacon drone.

Scarlett looks at the compass and can't really work anything about it out beyond that it is pointing in a fixed direction. What that is, she has no idea.

She tries to examine the drone but just ends staring off blankly into the distance.
