Robots 4 Week 1: Do Not Touch! vs Dardanera

Post by British-Robotics » Thu Jun 04, 2020 6:20 pm

Immediately spin up the weapon & carefully drive towards Dardanera, keep away from the arena walls to avoid getting trapped.

DNT has enough weapon power to really damage Dardanera and thank’s to Dard’s boxy shape it makes a good meal for DNT to really slice into the armour.

If Dardanera is about to hit me, reverse away a little and find some space to turn to go for another attack.

Good luck and may the best robot win.

First, we have faster speed and perfect control than Do Not Touch. In addition, their control will also get a little impaired than supposed to be by their big weapon. As for our bot, our front is designed to tank spinners. Even with repeated hits, it should still last long enough to debilitate Do Not Touch before we get killed by them. Plus our weapon spins up more quickly at 2 seconds compared to Do Not Touch's 4 seconds. The hinged wedge won't also get in the way much against the bar. Also, those teeth on our disc are supposed to be aligned. It's just RA2 weirdness.

Try to rush and tank them in the beginning, but if they manage to get up to speed by the time we are near them even with the small arena, immediately back up and J-hook towards to where their bar spins. Our speed edge means we will be able to evade the weapon, and while it may be risky, by hooking in the direction their bar is spinning, they will oversteer a lot thanks to their control disparity, while we will be fine thanks to our perfect control. Again, our speed edge here should allow this to work.

Once we are safe and they expose a wheel in the process, immediately go in for the kill, while also not being afraid in tanking the bar if need to. We will be able to chain hits in, progressively dealing more damage to their wheels and chassis. As their bar is slowed down by our wedge tanking it, we will also make sure it's at a speed below where it's dangerous, by constantly blocking it with our wedge and hitting it with our spinner, as well as stuffing it into the wall or hazard.

If this doesn't work, then just do a head on tank and go aggressive on them, pulling the same tactics of chaining and keeping the bar slowed.

For defense, it's basically just backing off and J-hooking before they hit an important part, like the chassis itself or a wheel if they get close to those. So, we should drive well and exploit any weakness while not showing any of out own. Also we want to end the fight as quickly as possible.

Good luck TBR
