Re: Gabrial vs Black Dog
Black Dog: 6/4/1/14/5 (+1 drum)
vs.
Gabrial: 6/4/1/14/5 (+1 hammer)
We've got the same stats. The key differences are that:
1) I don't have to time my weapon or aim with the precision that he does (which matters when you have a -2 control ratio).
2) I have a surface (my drum) that can tank a hit if absolutely necessary.
3) I can OOTA from 7 feet out, meaning that I have multiple win conditions and that he has more to worry about in terms of positioning.
4) His bot is extremely unstable and isn't really sure if it's a vertical thwack or actual hammer. Black Dog doesn't have these problems.
Spin up at the start, move out into the middle of my half of the arena, below the pinch point in the middle, moving consistently towards him at less than top speed. Reverse suddenly just as I'm coming into his range to bait him into misfiring, and rush back in, hit him and kill him, chaining for extra damage or an OOTA if possible. If that opening meeting is inconclusive, mix in more baiting, with threatening an OOTA via positioning (his back to one of the low walls), with angled flybys. Make him turn and flip onto his side or oversteer, or both. Follow up immediately with the drum and take advantage.
