ARC: Armageddon Discussion

I was rereading the 'preseason picks' thread and it really is quite amazing to see how much confidence everybody had in Falling Down ;P only Nick gave it any credit, which is far more than even I rate(d) it. Maybe taking six inches off DCR paradoxically made it worse? At least it's not a massive lev...

There should be more organic materials on robots.

Dual layer polycarbonate armour with an aquarium in the gap between the outer and inner walls?

They are different things, a blimp refers to an airship that is basically a huge balloon with fins and a cab, that relies on pressure to keep its shape, and the Leppelin is not one of those ;) I can't claim responsibility for the ZED Leppelin idea entirely as the initial suggestions weren't from me,...

I don't actually see what's so great about the design personally ;P something about dual spinners just...turns me off. I'd far rather have one spinner double the weight with all the power directed into that.

Nick/Spatula's Cool Picture thread

Ah, cool :) I like series wound motors for drive, weapons are a different matter since I have a preference for petrol engines to save on current draw.

Are these being done in expectation of any competition anytime soon? I might see if I can get something or other going on FRA if all else fails.

I wrote the RP first, and then decided that it was a bit short so started writing the review to fill some space up and make it bigger than two sentences. It then grew a bit and I ended up reworking the actual RP so...thing.

It was an entertaining way to waste an afternoon at least ^^

Falling Down vs. Double Dose

Essentially, Paul is unlikely to give tactics, and under the curious statutes of ARC that is likely to be a forfeit in my favour. I could just state that Falling Down will be using its additional armour setup (so the stats go as follows: Speed 7-5 to Falling Down, Traction 6-2 to Falling Down, Armou...

I'm not much of a fan of having offset spinning bits like that - although it's well balanced you are introducing an area of weakness into the weapon which when it's hitting things and delivering over 50kj of energy you ideally want to avoid.

How much speed would you get from the weapon with the hydraulic jack? I would have thought pneumatics would be faster and more efficient on the same system (even with the speed of the hydraulics increased fivefold) although I'd imagine you know more than me so feel free to correct my misunderstandin...

SPARKEYS NEW 2D BOT SHOWCASE

That is either a vast, sprawling robot, or a miniscule, tiny human being.

Apart from that and the off centre circle it doesn't look that bad though, worryingly.

Cool robot :) although I suspect Frank Goacher beat you to both the name and concept about seven years back, hehe.

I feared that might be the case, when you go out into battlefields and die for your country several times a day, every single day, for over a year, you don't have much time for points systems.

Hope it gets started eventually though as it has piqued my interest :)
